Business opportunities work in the same way... something used successfully in the US, will soon find its way into the UK. If you are serious and want something new to work from home, then look out for US products.

Why?

I can bet, an American first distributed bottled water to the UK. He came to the city and tried tap water and felt some form of dilution. Or went to the local shop for water and was gob smacked.NO WATER!

Water is much cleaner in the UK, particularly the North according to my experience. I have only drank, bottled water in the South, especially London, as it doesn't taste right. So from there I can see a need for clean water in the South. It became distributed in the South and surely reached its way to the North. No need for it, but it did!

When it did reach the North stores, customers weren't buying them or were curious to see if there was a taste they were missing out on. No, it wasn't a success.

I can understand the need for large water companies that need to purify water so its' drinkable. But the need for it being bottled?! Didn't really make sense.

However overtime advertising became national with TV exposure. They began selling bottled water. We get it as standard charge from our water company and we still buy water from the shops.

Water is healthier than pop...

As the saying went! Was it a success? You betcha!

But we only adapted to it fully after a decade. I watched an 80's movie and laughed at the guy who opened a bottle of water. "Why buy it when you can get it from the tap?" Who's laughing now...

Think about it... products from US are a success? But not always!

How many people do you know that are making a success from the Internet? In America it common, there's another Internet millionaire down the road, today. To work from home in the UK we need to adapt to changes that made other people successful and follow their pattern. I'm not saying selling anything from the US works, they're not all winners.

What I'm saying is, if we adapt to fulfil wants and needs of someone else, but quicker, you too can be successful. That's how you make money, by fixing someone's problem.

Let's look at it from your perspective. If you have a problem, you search for a solution to rectify the problem. Now if you have this problem, then what are the chances that someone else will have the same problem? It's common, and from there you have a product or service to sell. You'll have people starving for your product or service.

So if you want to work from home in the UK, think what problem do I have that I solved using a product or service. Or how can you make that product or service better so that the end user can enjoy it more.

This can be challenging even if you have a work at home job rather than a business. I had quite a time explaining that yes, my work as a medical transcriptionist was real work to my mother-in-law back when I did that. The idea that one could get paid for working at home in something other than daycare or direct sales was hard for her to accept somehow.

She gets it now, though, even though I'm in a business that she doesn't really understand. But I earn decent money, and that goes a long way toward reassuring questioning family members.

Home businesses can be pretty difficult to explain, even when they're fairly traditional sorts. Go into blogging or affiliate marketing, however, and explanations get more difficult to give. Not because the work itself is so odd, but because many people just can't wrap their minds around the concept of earning money online. The things they see online just exist, or they assume it takes a bigger business to run them.

One way to explain is to compare what you do to more common jobs. Blogging is, after all, a sort of writing. Affiliate sales can be compared to earning commissions as a salesperson, except you aren't an employee.

Then there's the issue of getting people to respect what you do. Some see your flexible schedule as meaning you can do as you please anytime. The fact that you need to get your work done and have a schedule on which you prefer to do it goes right over many people's heads.

Of course, when you feel like building a little envy, you just have to mention some of the perks. Little things like saving gas mean a lot these days. Flexible hours can bring about the envy of any working parent and many people who don't have kids. Add in your delight in whatever you do, and you may drive some questioners complete nuts.

Explain how low home business costs can be and you'll probably have people asking how they can do the same. They'll probably never do anything with whatever you tell them, but many will ask.

Don't expect that no one will understand what you do. Some will, and they won't all be in their own businesses. Having your own home business makes it easier to understand how others could earn a living from home, but it's not an absolute requirement.
