[Y14]Yellow Pages Advertising Costs
by Bruce Tucker, Bru
Ok so I turn on the evening news only to find out another 2.6 million jobs will be cut by the end of the first quarter of this year. Doesn't that give you the warm fuzzies inside? More people out of work translates to more people not buying or spending less money. You will either have to cut your own staff for less sales or lower your prices to keep things steady. One other option is to cut your own costs so the sales you do get translate into a profit.

The one area where you probably have a big budget is marketing and advertising, and why not, without it customers won't find your website, right? Wrong! What if I told you that you can still get people to visit your website and eliminate your online advertising costs? Well it is possible and when you are done reading this article you will probably say to yourself why didn't you do this sooner.

You can build your website to receive more hits by simply doing a technique called article submitting. This means you will write articles about whatever it is your website does or sells, submit those articles to various article directories such as Bukisa or Article Dashboard, apply a resource box at the end of your articles so readers can find your website and repeat the process over and over and over. Really there is no end to this process; it all depends on just how many customers you want to receive.

So let's start with step 1 and that is writing the article. You want to write articles that are educational and informative to the reader. Let's say your online store sells cameras. You should write articles about how to take good pictures, what makes up a good camera and so on. Your articles should be no less than 400 words, otherwise no one will take it seriously and no longer than 800 words or people will lose interest.

Now that you have your articles written you need to move onto step 2 and add what is called a resource box to the end of it. A resource box is short explanation as to who the author of the article is and how the reader can get in touch with them. For instance a typical resource box would read, ?About the author: John Jones is the CEO of digital cameras are us. You can learn more about digital cameras are us by visiting their website at {insert the web address here}.?

As you can see the resource box points the reader directly to your online business. If your article is written well enough they will take you to be a professional and expert at what you do, click your website link in the resource box and hopefully buy something from you. Now how much did you spend so far to get that sale? That's right, nothing!

However you are not done. You have an article and a resource box but now you need to put it in front of readers. The best way to do this is to submit you articles to various article directories such as Bukisa or Article Dashboard. They receive tens of thousands of visitors daily looking for knowledge that you are providing and the best part is they allow you to post your articles for free.

So to recap here is what you need to do. Start by writing articles that are informative and educational in relation to your website. Step two add a resource box to the end of the article so the reader knows who wrote the article and how they get in touch with you. Step three post your articles to various article directories such as Bukisa or Article Dashboard. Step four go back to step one and start over and keep repeating until your website is so busy you can't handle all of the business anymore (yeah right, just keep going!).

The internet has become one of the biggest industries in the world with over $9 billion in 2006 being used for search engine marketing (SEM)in North America. Although the data is from 2 years ago, this figure is set to increase dramatically in the very near future. Internet marketing is all about traffic to your website. Are you getting traffic and sales to your site?

The internet has created a global shopping centre. In fact if you want something you simply Google it and you can have access to it. But this is a very competitive industry. To put your business at the top you need to employ Search Engine Marketing (SEM) staff. Offshore SEM staffs are experts in the field of search engine optimisation by natural means as well as paying for advertisement. Without study or knowledge of SEM strategies you are best off outsourcing this component of your business as done incorrectly can cost you thousands of dollars with very little result. Outsourcing offshore SEM staff gives your business access to qualified and experienced people at a price small and medium businesses can afford.

Pay per click (PPC) advertising is one of the most frequently used forms of search engine marketing (SEM). In a nutshell you pay (normally Google/Yahoo) when ever someone clicks on your search engine advertisement. The price you pay is mainly dependent on the price you bid and also the quality of your website according to the keyword you want your ad be seen on. The PPC fees can be amazingly high with some keywords costing upwards of 10 dollars per click. Think about how much that costs for 15 clicks a day for a month. That is a pretty expensive advertising campaign! SEM staff are able to find the keywords which are cost effective as well as save you the time it requires for you to implement and actually learn the ins and outs of SEM. Outsourcing SEM staff has the ability to maximize the return on your investment ensuring you are getting maximum bang for your dollar.

SEM staff and experts use PPC advertising through search engines. If you do a search on Google you will see a number of sponsored links at the top and down the side of the page. These people have paid to have their company on the first page. If you were to click on one of the ads that company would actually pay a fee to Google. In order for that company to get a return on their investment (ROI) they will need to generate a certain amount of sales from the advertisements. This can be a fine line if you are paying high PPC fees. One way to beat this is to be very specific about the words you want. For example if we searched "SEM staff" we may get the word cheaper for "offshore SEM staff" or simply the person is actually searching and is already interested in offshore SEM staff. This means you may be more likely to generate a sale off perhaps a cheaper word.

Think about your product or service and all the words you could use to describe what your business does. Think of spelling mistakes, plurals, capital letters and words like what is, how does, where to and much much more. If you put all these words together there would be thousands of combinations. You have probably thought of less than 5% of the possible keywords. SEM staff are able to do all of this at a reduced price saving you time, money and angst.

The other form of SEM is PPC on particular sites. So you can have your advertisement on sites with keywords related to your industry. It is best to be particular with this but again it is time consuming and high quality offshore SEM staff can do this for you. This will also save you money because you are not bidding on places that are somewhat irrelevant to your service.

As you can see search engine marketing is a science. What you have read here is only the tip of the iceberg in regards to SEM. If you have the time and money to learn then you will create much more business. However, if you are not interested in SEM or just don't have the time then outsourcing offshore SEM staff may be an option. This will also allow you to concentrate on the key components of your business such as the actual selling/creation of your products.
