[Y34]You Cant Afford Me

One of the best link building tactics - and the favorite of many affiliate marketers today - is submitting articles with information on a particular niche to article directories. This is the first "tool" SEO experts advise new site owners to use to acquire natural incoming links (also called backlinkks). The process is simple.

(1)Create an original article.
(2)Develop an Author Reference Box that includes your website's URL.
(3)Submit the work to Article Directories for easy backlinks.

The benefits of using article directories in your marketing strategy should not be taken lightly. They include, but are not limited to, the following:

=> Links are one-way. Many experts believe that search engines discount or downplay reciprocal links in their SERP (Search Engine Results Page) calculations. While reciprocal links can still be valuable, they don't count as much as one-way links to your site. Article directories give you a one-way link.

=> Links per page are fewer. This is a little known, but valuable benefit. Experts say the higher the number of links per page, the less SEO value each link will have. But the link back to your site in an article is often only one of a few links on the page.

=> Links are guaranteed. If you've ever asked a webmaster for a link before, it can feel a bit intimidating. But when you submit articles to directories, you know you won't get turned down. Seeing those backlinks show up in the SERPs is a nice confidence booster, especially if your site is brand new. As long as your articles are of good quality, they will also send you targeted visitors for a long time to come.

So why do article sites even exist? One reason - to provide other webmasters with access to free, quality content. This is why article backlinks have the ability to quickly multiply. Just one article, in just one directory, can actually turn into hundreds of links, as webmaster after webmaster finds your article and places it on their web. Every site needs content, and these directories provide a valuable service for all parties.

They give webmasters content that is appropriate to their site (and saves them time because they didn't have to write it). They allow other webmasters and writers to submit content that others can use for free, as long as all of the links remain in tact.

Getting backlinks by asking individual webmasters for them is a slow (and almost painful) process. Many site owners will not even enter into reciprocal link relationships. Sometimes they don't perceive the requester as offering them sufficient value. Maybe they simply don't have time to respond to requests. Or, it could be that their spam filters catch those requests - and delete them - before the requestor can make a case for a link.

Most web owners do not have time to spare. They want to build traffic and page rank as rapidly as possible to keep ahead of the competition. Don't get me wrong, submitting requests to other sites for reciprocal links, listing in link directories, and other methods are excellent long term SEO tactics, but they can take ages.

With the Directory strategy, your article can appear very quickly, getting your name and links out there right away. So if you need to start building traffic today, articles can do the job in record time.

1. Good Keywords (http://www.goodkeywords.com/) - As the name implies, this is a tool for helping you find good keyword phrases. The very first step of optimizing a site for search engine traffic is to select your target keyword phrases. You have to do this before you do anything else. Using this software, you can enter a simple keyword and get suggestions for a more specific phrase. You can also get search stats from Overture US for the previous month. This is only a portion of total searches on all search engines, but it does give you an idea of the popularity of search terms.

2. Google (http://www.google.com/) - Of course everyone knows and uses this search engine. However, paired with Good Keywords (described above), you can quickly find the ratio of a given keyword's popularity versus its competitiveness. Doing a simple search on the keywords you choose using Good Keywords, will quickly show you how many pages are competing for that keyword. The total number of results are displayed in the upper right hand corner of the page. If you discover that a keyword has far too much competition, you will want to return to Good Keywords and look for a more specific keyword.

3. Broken Link Detector (http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html) - Having a neat, clean site structure free of broken links is key to getting good page rankings, as well as getting all of your pages indexed. This free software spiders your site and gives you a report of broken links and orphaned pages (pages that are not linked to any other page).

4. Robots.txt Generator (http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/robots-generator/) - Use this site to quickly generate a robots.txt file that tell search engine spiders where to search, and where not to search, your site.

5. Free Site Map Generator (http://gsitecrawler.com/) - Free software that spiders your site and creates an xml format sitemap. An xml format sitemap helps search engines spider your site. Once your sitemap is created and uploaded to your site, go to Google Sitemaps (https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/) and submit your sitemap information, so Google will know where your where to look for it.

6. Link Popularity Checker (http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/) - Website that lets you quickly check the number of backlinks pointing to your site, with results from Google, Hotbot, MSN, and Yahoo.

7. Google PageRank Indicator (http://www.google-pagerank.net/) - Find out your site's Google PageRank even if you do not have Google's Toolbar installed. Also, download code that will display your page rank on your site to users who don't have Google's toolbar.

8. Page Rank Predictor (http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/future-pagerank/) - Predicts future page rank for your site.

9. Directory Submission Tool (http://www.123promotion.co.uk/directorymanager) - Submit your site to multiple web directories simultaneously.

10. Keyword Density Calculator (http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/keyword-density) - Submit any URL and get a report on the keyword density for up to three separate keywords. This is a helpful tool for optimizing your own site, as well as checking out the competition.
