by Sam Jose, Sam
As a sport, horse racing has a history of several centuries. The kings of the world enjoyed in, now a section of the society enjoys it. Horse racing promises some thrills, fun and rush of adrenaline, which can't be seen anywhere else. Horse racing is not everyone. It is a very limited affair. Don't even dream getting into the sport, if you have a shallow pocket and a weak heart. This sport traditionally belongs to the class of the sophisticated. Forget about horse racing, if you feel inadequate.

One of the oldest sports known to man, horse racing retains with in some sophistication, which exudes strength, power and authority. Ancient chariot races of the Romans, the thoroughbreds of the Arabian lands, etc go down through history. The first organized thoroughbred racing of USA was in 1665. You will also see the development of modern horse racing as an organised sport with the standards, rules and laws setting up in the middle of 18th century, mostly in Great Britain.

Now it is an organized sport around the world, with several countries having nicely maintained race courses. The main interest of many people is horse racing betting. It is almost akin to gambling for most of the betters. There are also people who have lost their shirt betting on horse racing. The never ending fascination, you will never feel like quitting, although it is time to. Knowing when to stop is one key advantage. Most people including you may not posses that quality, even if you are adept at picking the winner most of the time.

Horse racing is for strongly built horses and for strongly built men ? both physically and emotionally. You got to have the courage, the techniques and willingness to explore this sport either as a hobby or as a profession. If you are worried about the dangers, you won't make it. If you can get into for one, you can't get out ? so sweet is the attraction it has. And, not everyone will cross the barrier.

The horse racing can also be different at different places. While in the United States the emphasis is on the fastest dash, British and other racing requires long galloping and going past obstacles. Horse racing is not the same game everywhere and should be cautious about this difference while putting your money on the betting table. Otherwise, you might lose your shirt too. Don't let it happen and make sure you stop when the time is due.

Horse Racing is the thrilling experience you can get. It keeps adrenaline rushing and heart pounding. Getting into horse racing is not the cup of tea for everyone. It is only for those fortunate few, who have got the facilities right and are really raring to go. Or if your enthusiasm to horse racing is limited to the betting you make, it is right too. Betting on horse racing too is not the easiest task you might be handling. When you have the courage and the depth of pocket ? you can go ahead.

With the scene set, the mood is ripe for a good party and yet for only a small proportion of fans will results alone be able to quench such heavy anticipation. Best then to turn some attention to alternative assists to celebration.

Maybe take a leaf out of the generously endowed Brazilian book - probably the nation with the least need for props but generally decked out with the most - from hats, wigs, whistles, tambourines and maracas to patriotic G-strings sporting the national motto - order and progress, the perfect style accessory for that post-match Copacabana beach party.

Not to be outdone, fans here can also grab a G-string - an edible candy version - not quite as sultry but so much more traditional English football in style. Another big hit will surely be the giant beer swigging glass and inflatable beer bin; both items essential pieces of kit for all self-respecting footie parties.

It seems though that most of the nation will be turning towards the pizza for home delivered party back-up. Domino's is placing orders for an extra 2 tons of pepperoni - the UK's favourite pizza topping - as well as 15 tons of mozzarella cheese, both kingpin ingredients of their newly launched World Cup guest pizza, the Football Fanatic.

As the football stakes rise, gourmet style TV dinners could be introduced to revelers. With some pre planning required and greater dexterity at the microwave controls a definite advantage, these versatile meals can be mixed and matched, the desserts sometimes even extending into the after match commentary.

About half of all live football is watched in pubs, this figure rising during the World Cup games. Thus landlords across the land are now bracing themselves for hordes champing at the bit for some footie camaraderie and keen to throng the streets with a post match glow that owes nothing to the English climate.

The game invokes a similar passion in Spain, pubs, clubs and bars already accustomed to all night partying now eagerly awaiting the chance for additional celebrations. In Alicante the fiestas and fireworks of the main summer solstice carnival of Las Hogueras coincide neatly with the World Cup so the Costa Blanca is poised to be THE World Cup party capital. Fly here, see http://www.xl.com/champion/cheap-flights-to-alicante.asp, to take part in the ultimate of celebrations and even if results don't go your way, your sun-warmed all over glow should still get you through the dark days ahead.
