[W902]Woman Role In Society
by ,
A woman was working for half of what a man earned. This angered a lot of women, and they started the Women's Liberation Movement, they were demanding rights for women on such matters as; Equal Pay, Sexual Harassment, Abortion, Domestic Violence and Maternity Leave. In the late 1960's women took to the streets, demanding these rights, and burning their bras.

Nowadays most women go out to work, some do still stay at home to look after the family, maybe through choice, or being told by older generations, that that's how it should be.

Women have come a long way in history, workingwomen now are getting married and having a family later in life, or not bothering at all. At one stage a woman had to be married to get a mortgage as hubby had to sign for it, that's not the case nowadays.

There are still people not happy with women having equal rights, some refuse to employ women at all, or mock them for trying to take on a man's role in the workforce.

Women have come a long way since the suffragette movement, which finally allowed women to vote.

People think that a man who looks after the children, does the shopping, works from home is a wimp, this isn't true, with most women working full time now, around 39% are earning more than their partners, so they do a role swap, this is ideal for some couples as it also saves on childcare expenses. Some men don't feel threatened by their change of being the one to stay home.

Once it used to be said women were weaker than men, but with most of the work done these days by machine, that also multitask, something a woman's good at, it's now definitely equal in a lot of jobs.

Many blame society for these changes; they bent over backwards to give women what they wanted.

Many women ought to start believing happiness doesn't come from money, or how high up the corporate ladder you can go, and to start respecting those who do stay at home to look after their family.
