[W931]Womens Fashion Leather Jackets
by Jim Brown, Jim
Women's fashion can take a toll on one's mental health. Yes, fashion is supposed to be a good thing, but, when taken to the extreme, fashion can be detrimental to one's health. There are so many options available to make one's self beautiful; it is no wonder that fashion can be harmful. Can you really talk about women's fashion without mentioning the affects of it on the mental and physical aspects?

In magazines, there are pictures of these beautiful, seemingly perfect women, advertising all different aspects of fashion. One ad might be on lingerie, with the very toned and flawless body, while another might show teeth whiteners. All which has probably been retouched so that the public will fall in love with whatever fashion product is being advertised.

This may make women want to change their bodies. While this can be done in a healthy way, through exercise and diet, some women take it to the extreme and have plastic surgery. There are breast implants, liposuction, tummy tucks, and so much more. Instead of being happy with how one looks, they try to change everything physically possible.

If the people in charge of starting the fashion trends would put more thoughts into who they portray and who their audience is, it is possible that fewer women would look to drastic measures to be beautiful.

On a completely different note, one may consider the very small size of the models in the fashion industry to be bad to an everyday woman's mental health. One that is very in tune with today's fashion.

When thinking about the size of models, some young women may thing that in order to be fashionable, they have to be the same size as what is seen. Now, not all women are as impressionable as others, but the ones that are could develop eating disorders or become addicted to plastic surgery, all in the name of fashion. The constant media exposure of super thin models portraying what the hottest trend should be is all it takes to become a mental leach to some women.

Women should be strong enough and proud enough of their bodies to look past the shallow part of fashion, but this is not always the case. Every day, more and more girls and women, develop some sort of disorder because they are so afraid of not being fashionable and fitting in. Love yourself and the world of women's fashion may not affect you so much.

Women's fashion is obviously directed at women, which is probably the most obvious statement there is. What is not so obvious is that women's fashion affects these same women's children. Children see and hear more than what they are given credit for. Women should not let children dictate their lives, but they should be careful on what they say and how they act, even on something like fashion.

Children imitate their parents, especially their mothers. So, those women whose main goal in life is to have the most fashionable stuff, they might be teaching their children to never be satisfied with what they have or who they are. It is alright to want to be fashionable, just don't let it be the main priority in your life.

One can teach kids to look good and to take care of themselves without it taking over their life. Women who don't know how to set aside a budget for clothes are teaching their kids to be wasteful. Also, if a woman is envious of another woman's style or life, the kid is never going to learn to be happy with their belongings.

Now, there are the women who think it is fashionable to be super thin. They restrict food, exercise incessantly, and put unrealistic goals on themselves. So, on top of seeing the size zero models, the kids are seeing their moms trying to be like the models. In turn, the kids could start picking up the behaviors of their moms so that they can be like their moms. This circle all started because the mom's would not be happy with the way they are made. Dieting and exercise is a good and fashionable thing if done in moderation and taught to be done properly to the younger generation. Everything that makes a woman fashionable should be taught to the kids in the proper way. How else are they going to learn to love themselves if the women around them do not teach them?

Fashion can be good if taken in moderation, as with anything in life. It is up to the adults, especially the women to show the kids this truth. Teach them how to dress themselves, how to fix their hair, and if the kids are girls, how to put on makeup. Teach them it's alright to want something someone else has, but to be happy for that person for having it. Teach good eating and exercise habits. Teach the children all of these things so that they can one day be a fashionable woman.
