[W999]Work Life Balance Benefits
by Joanna Engelman, Joa
The truth is, we are often so busy working, worrying, and feeling frustrated, that we don't take the time to stop and really look at what is going on with us, and what needs to shift to allow us to live happier, healthier lives.

Steps to take to find a healthy work/life balance

1) Write a list of what is working in your life, and what is not working. Often, it's easy to say nothing is working, when in reality, some good things are probably working in your life. Look at all areas of your life-family, friends, relationships, career, finances, health, spirituality, and creativity. For each category, write out what is working and what isn't to give you a clearer picture of where you currently are, and what needs to shift.

2) With this list, come back to your career. What needs to change? When our life is all about our work, we often neglect the other areas of our ife, and as a consequence, we are out of balance and unfulfilled. What needs to shift? Do you need a job with different hours? Is there a conversation you need to have with your boss or co-workers to help you feel more productive and inspired at work? How can you prioritize your day? Find the most important jobs that need to be done and do them first. That way, by the end of the work day, you know you've accomplished the big tasks. Maybe it's time for a new career all together. What is the first step you can take towards changing jobs or careers?

3) Write out a list of what is missing in your life. Is it a new relationship, better fitness, a new creative outlet, time to travel? By writing, we see what is missing and what we really want. Pick one or two categories and write out three things you need to do this week to begin to make these dreams come to life. Get into action.

4) Look closely at the excuses you tell yourself. Why are you working so much and feeling dissatisfied? Are you worried about money? Why? Do you need to prove something to yourself and others? Is working too hard and too many hours a way to avoid being in a relationship, or try something new? Often we are stuck and unfulfilled, but we don't know why, and we may be unhappy, but we become comfortable staying stuck. Change can be scary, but the freedom and happiness of experiencing something new lies on the other side of fear.

5) Find a partner or community. Get Support. You don't need to do this alone. We often feel fear or too much pride to ask for help when we need other people and they need us. Who in your life could you work with? Find a coach or a partner to work with on moving forward in your life. Create a community. Find others who can support you, and also need and want your support.

Four Necessary Steps You Should Take When Creating Better Work Life Balance!
by Kenneth L. Meyer
Most folks are out of balance in life when they compare thier personal life with their work life. Most folks will say something like, "I'm one way at work (mostly a bad way) and another way at home (mostly "somewhat" better than work). When you know your Myers-Briggs personality type you can better balance work and the rest of your life. You were created to enjoy both work and your personal life!
1. 70-80% of the Workers in America Dislike What they Do
Most of those folks who dislike their work so much are suffering from two things, at least. One is a conditioning that takes place in the American culture that says you are not supposed to like what you do....after all it is called "work"!
Secondly, most workers are working daily in areas of "weakness" on the job. Their jobs don't match their "naturalness" that we call personality type. A perfect match between personality type and job is not required; but, most folks are working in type-unlike jobs to such a degree that job dissatisfaction, health threatening stress that is job related, constant boredome and work related irrations are pandemic in the USA!
2. Knowledge of Myers-Briggs Personalty Type Holds the Key!
You have a basic, natural and instinctive way of behaving in situations that is you. This is because you were imprinted while in the "womb" to prefer certain behaviors over other behaviors. This is why at work if you must repeatedly engage in certain behaviours that are NOT your instinctimvely favorite ones in order to get the work done...you will become stressed, bored...dissatisfied on many levels. It is inevitable. Most will fight thru it and spend a lifetime not like their work, which reinforces the incorrect "cultural" teaching that work is not to be liked.
By understanding your personality type thru the Myers-Briggs personality indicator you will discover your instintive way of becoming energized, taking in informaition every second of you life, reasoning and making decisions upon the information you take in and setting up your outside world so you can get things done.
3. Pick Careers That Are "Like" Your Type!
You can identify careers and jobs within careers by finding those that require the same energy level/source, information intake method, decision making model and approach to work activity and getting things done that you have!
If you can take a Myers-Briggs and use just about any Occupational Handbook you can do a better job of matching yourself to the "perfect" career/job or improving your current lot within the job you have now!
4. Choose and Navigage Relationships the Very Same Way!
Most of divorce in America is generated because people are too different at their core. Their personalities have too many differences than sameness. Yes opposites attract but the experience and the data is telling us that the sameness in type between two people trying to relate the better that relationship will be naturally. Also, when two people have more in common from a personality approach the easier it is to get along, communicate, make decisions withoug gross arguing and better enjoy life!
You can better balance your personal and work life by making both more "type-like" rather than "type-unlike". It may not be easy at any step but it is also not that difficult. Choose a job or career that reflects your personality type as identified and described by the Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator. Use your MBTI results to discover your energy source, information intake preferece, reasoning and decision making preference and finally how you instinctivley prefer to orgainize your day to get things done. Pick your life relationships the very same way! Use your never changing nature...your personality type....to create more sameness in work and relationships and your life will achieve more balance.
