There isn't anyone who is immune to having a zit. It can attack anyone. The zit is not partial to any specific age, gender, ethnicity or location. To make matters worse, a zit can appear on any part of your body, as long as skin is present.
What Causes A Zit?
There are many factors that attribute to the cause of zit outbreaks. One major factor is hygiene. A zit occurs when the skin is not thoroughly cleaned. When skin is left dirty, oil glands clog the pores and prevent hair follicles from growing. This causes small, itchy, sometimes painful bumps on your skin. On severe occasions, untreated zits can cause pus.
Stress is also a major factor in zit outbreaks. While most people believe that stress is simply a state of mind, it can also affect how your body performs. If you fail to take care of your physical and psychological well-being, be assured that a zit can very possibly appear.
The common recipients of zits are adolescents. Changing hormones often lead to certain bodily reactions which cause breakouts. This is the most contributory cause of acne. More often than not, zit outbreaks will go away for the most part after adolescence. This happens more quickly in men, where most acne problems resolve itself by the age of twenty. Females, however, continue with their acne breakouts well into menopause. This is due to fluctuating hormones in the female body.
How Do I Deal With A Zit?
As mentioned earlier, everybody is prone to zits. There are many over the counter ointments that can be applied topically to the blemish. However, in some people, these remedies are not always effective. It is recommended not to attempt to resolve the issue on your own, as you may aggravate the situation even further. In these cases, a doctor visit is recommended. It may also be wise to keep a positive outlook and attitude. Drawing attention to yourself and to your zits will only make matters worse.
It is best advice is to begin a regular deep cleaning regimen for your skin. The cleaner your skin is, the fewer problems will occur. However, be sure not to over cleanse. Your skin needs a certain amount of oil to function properly and over-cleansing may take away these essential oils. It is recommended to use a mild soap and water for facial cleansing. Expensive acne products are not always necessary. It is also not recommended to change skin products too often, as this may cause allergies.
Once a zit appears, it is wise to treat it immediately. Keep the area clean. If several zits appear at once, that is considered an outbreak. If left unattended, outbreaks can lead to severe acne. Unfortunately, severe acne can often result in permanent scarring. Therefore, a visit to the dermatologist at first outbreak is highly recommended.
