by Dane Stanton, Dan
If you are interested in adopting a pug, than this article is for you. There is no need for a clear reason why you should adopt a pug. To bring a pug into the house as a source of entertainment for a child is not a brilliant idea. The children must be taught that pugs are not toys. It should not be ridden, hit or dragged around a house especially when you just have a new pug in your house. Most of the pugs had tough times before such being abused and shouted at. Treating it like a toy where the children tend to constantly bully it, the pug will run or bite you.

When you adopt a pug, there is a high chance to experience all the problems when dogs have to adapt to new surroundings. There will be problems such as chewing, jumping, and pouncing on people and constant barking. You need to conduct dog obedience training like other dogs had. However, you need to remember again that pugs are sensitive. Hence, having a water spray handy is the best way to instill good dog behavior. It will be easier to tell its action is wrong when you spray its face in the middle of something.

It will be easy agreeing to many things when you are about to adopt a pug. You can promise that little Kenny will feed it while Angela will take it out for a walk. However, there must be an adult to supervise their actions so the pug will be carefully taken care of.

It is normal to see a pug with eyes filled with tears when it had received mistreatments from its previous owners. As an owner, you need to show some patience so the pug will be able to blend in with the new surrounding. There is no need to shout because it is not stupid. Just give it a little time and you will find them playing with your kids once it accepts that the whole family loves it.

Of course these are only a few issues you need to address when adopting a pug. It's important to remember that a pug is a living creature and as all living creatures feel, there may be psychological issues involved for the pug you have adopted. So take it slow and remember to always treat your dog as you would yourself, with respect and compassion.
