Sanitizers And Protecting Your Health

Sanitizers and Protecting Your Health

Sometimes it seems like there is a new illness popping up just about every day. With exotic names and horrific symptoms, it can get pretty scary just going outside. In truth, the chances of you catching something like West Nile Virus or Ebola are pretty remote unless you are running around naked in Africa or Asia.

Instead of being worried about the illness of the day in the media, most people should be worrying about the lesser health risks that will not kill you, but will put you in bed for a week. Whether it be the common cold, strep throat or whatever, the day to day illnesses we all pick up can be less lethal, but incredibly aggravating. Fortunately, there is one step you can take that will help you avoid catching these unfortunate little illnesses.

Sanitizers are an effective and easy method for fighting germs you run into on a day to day basis. Sanitizers work by killing over 99 percent of bacterial germs on your skin. When most people get really sick, they take antibiotics. Antibiotics kill bacteria inside your body. Sanitizers do the same thing, just before they get into you.

Most people buy off the shelf sanitizers when at the store. These sanitizers come in the form of rubs, liquids, wipes and sprays. They are highly effective, but have major disadvantage. Common off the shelf sanitizers are toxic and a major health risk if you ingest them. You can tell this by simply looking for major warning levels on the label. How toxic are they? One chemical that was used for some time was Hexachlorophene, known better as Nabac. It was used in hospitals and products like Baby Magic Bath. After extensive studies, Nabac was identified as a cause of cancer and banned in 1972. In this case, the sanitizer was doing more damage than the germs it was sanitizing!

The good news is there are natural, non-toxic sanitizers on the market. These sanitizers usually come in the form of liquid washes. You can dab them on or wash your hands with them. These natural sanitizers work by applying ingredients found in nature that naturally sanitize.
