The Benefits Of Home Aromatherapy
by Tracey Mumford, Tra
As the name implies, aromatherapy involves a form of treatment using scents. In aromatherapy, one learns to enjoy certain relaxing scents which can be felt with scented candles and bath salts. In fact, some scents are really calming and relaxing wherein the recipient of aromatherapy feels completely relaxed and stress free after a session of aromatherapy.

There is no actual need of going to a parlor or clinic for aromatherapy. You can very much experience the benefits of aromatherapy while in the comfort of your house. A great means of home aromatherapy is creating your own bath salts. There is nothing much to do to create your own bath salts. Its main ingredients are baking soda, Epsom salt and table salt. All these items are easy to find in a retail store or grocery, and are safe to use.

Sometimes the bath products that are found in the retail world constitute harsh ingredients that only lead to some irritation of the skin. So the main advantage of home aromatherapy and of creating your own bath salts is that you are aware of the ingredients of the product, and know that it is safe to use.

To make your own bath salts, you need to add 3 cups of Epsom salt, a cup of table salt and 2 cups of baking soda in large mixing bowl using a spoon. On adding each ingredient, you have to mix the mixture with your hand or spoon. On completion of mixing, food color is to be added to the mixture, depending on the color of the bath salt. The more the drops of color you add, the darker will be the color. You could also mix colors to get a special color.

Once the bath salts are completed, lies the point of adding essential oils till you get a scent. There is no rule to the scent of the bath salt; you have to use your judgment for this matter. It is better to strongly scent the bath salt so that fewer amounts of bath salts will be needed for your aromatherapy. Moreover, they last longer that way.

If you don't have the time, and the patience to create bath salts as mentioned above, you just have to shake the mixture in a bowl till its prefect. There is no need of you stirring over here. Besides bath salts, many people also use scented candles for home aromatherapy.

You can find candles of various scents like lavender, cinnamon and vanilla. You can find these candles in any retail store, on the internet and in craft fairs. And depending on the size of the candle, it is possible that the candle will last for a week, with not much burn time.

It is thus possible to practice home aromatherapy using essential oils, bath salts and aromatherapy candles. You need the place and the patience to do the necessary arrangements for home aromatherapy on your own.
