Protocol Towards The Unknown
by ,
If this is your first-time to travel, then you will surely have a hard time getting some shut-eye the night before your flight. Lucky you if you have friends to accompany you. However, if you don't, you could have a hard time enjoying the place due to lack of sleep. And everyone knows that if you lack sleep, you tend to be grumpy and cranky. These could lead to you and everyone else around you to have a bad memory of the travel. Aside from lack of sleep, you could also feel uncomfortable because you will be out of your comfort zone for a period of time.

Leaving for a whole new place could lead to you to culture shock, so here are some travel etiquettes to keep you from getting into trouble while you are in a totally new place.

1. Try to be comfortable and feel at home with the place. Though local residents tend to engulf you with more hospitality than you could ever imagine, make them feel as if you don't need to be waited on hand and foot. If your stay is overnight or longer, help them with minor chores around the house as much as you can.

2. While this may sound strange, please keep your manners at home. This means that you should not be bossy or even try to run the place that you will be staying at. Be more sensitive of how other people could feel about your actions.

3. People in some countries that you might want to go to would most likely dress in a very different way than you do and you will have a tendency to stare. It is not a bad manner to stare, per se; it just doesn't feel good to be stared at. So when you find yourself in a similar situation, just try to not stare at people that much.

4. Just because you don't live in that city does not give you the license to act let alone dress vulgarly. Opt for clothes that cover all the right places to avoid being stared at.

5. Unless you don't want to have a good stay, always wear a smile. A smile will do wonders.

6. You will never please everyone no matter how hard you try. But doing your research about the country's culture will definitely pay off in the end. Just make sure you don't cross the line and get snide remarks because to the locals, you represent your country. The way they see you could make a great impact as to how they see your country.
