[B926]Bug Bites Look Like
by Aydan Corkern, Ayd
Have you ever been bit or stung by an insect? Most people would say yes to this question. Most of these bug bites won't even be noticed by the person getting bitten except for maybe the burning feeling that they might get on their skin. Sometimes these bites can make you feel like your skin is on fire because of the force of this bite.

If you are traveling down the road on a motorcycle and run into a bee it can sting you, and it probably will. Some people will have a bad reaction to a bug bite. That would mean a fast trip to the hospital for a shot. Most of the time people will just have to do a lot of scratching because these bites will make you itch.

There are a lot of different kinds of insects that bite. Some of them you might have a hard time seeing. Here are some that you might know: ticks, flies, fleas or chiggers. Others might be ants or fire ants and, of course, mosquitoes.

We put down all kinds of powders in our lawns to try to control the bugs that life in our yards. We also put all kinds of powders in or on our gardens to keep the bug population down Some people also put moth balls under their homes to keep out snakes and other unwanted creatures form going under their homes. Oh, yes. Moth balls do work in keeping snakes from going under your homes if you can stand the smell.

My father-in-law was a smart man; he would put these smelly things under his home every so often. The smell would go away after a couple of days. He didn't have termites under there either. Every year he would put down lime in his garden and till it into the soil. His garden was always very clean of weeds, and he didn't have to use a lot of chemicals to keep down the bugs. We always said that he had a green thumb.

He had old-fashioned bug zappers that were used at night by his back door, or he had some kind of trap in his garage where he worked all the time, almost to the time he passed. He will be missed. A lot of the remedies that we use today are the same ones that he taught us to do. He taught us what to do and what to use to put out this fire.
