Perseverance is the ability of an individual to continue being in a state, enterprise or undertaking in spite of counter influences, opposition or discouragement. To elaborate further, persevering means making efforts towards the achievement of a certain goal. Moreover, these efforts are continued even when the heart keeps telling the effort maker to stop making the efforts, or to direct these efforts towards the achievement of other goals that are relatively easy to attain. Alternatively, these goals can also be those that are pursued by majority of the people and are therefore referred to as more normal. Perseverance is that quality that separates the normal from the outstanding -a talented person may fail if he cannot persevere and a mediocre person may succeed if he perseveres.

Importance of Perseverance in making money

Ever since human beings gave up the lifestyle that made them dependent on jungles and took to civilization -a hierarchy has developed. Moreover, in today's materialistic world money is the main instrument of measuring the success that a person has achieved. Although, in recent years, counter theories of spiritual satisfaction have become more vocal than they were before, and they have built up a considerable base amongst people; the fact remains that money is the single largest standard of comparing people. This is why people work, toil, beg, borrow, steal, cheat etc. The reason for this simple- money enables a person to live more comfortably, and in some cases more luxuriously. Money enables people to live in bigger and more comfortable houses, use better automobiles, eat richer, better and more nutritious food, look better and most importantly fell better.

For making money, the first and foremost step is to set the goal. This will depend on which field the person is in. However, it is also true that irrespective of the field, the goal can be in terms of the amount of money that the person wants to earn- the field may set the broad limits but individual initiative can go beyond these. Once this is done, the person has to identify the path that will take him there. This is where the exceptional quality of perseverance comes in to play and will be required at every stage. The person then has to make strenuous efforts to understand the basics that govern his professional field.

If the person wants to be an employee with some company, he has to understand what the employers want in a fresh recruit, what will be his chances of growth and promotion in the organization or in the field of his profession and what, if any, will be the chances of him becoming a genuine heavyweight in his chosen profession. In case a person chooses to be a businessman, he will need to understand the requirements and dynamics of the market, the strengths and limitations of his organization and of course the marketing of his product. In spite of this, there can be failures, to tide over which greater perseverance will be required. And once the person gets wealthy, more amount of perseverance will be needed to keep alive the hunger for success. All in all, perseverance will be required at all the stages to make a successful moneymaker.
