6 Steps To Having An Organized Kitchen
by Joshua Spaulding, Jos
1. Purpose
The first step is identifying the purpose of your kitchen. For most people it is a place to store food and eat in. If that is your case as well, then why do you have books and papers and pens scattered all over the place? Take all of the unrelated items out of the kitchen and move them to a different room.

2. Separate into categories
Within a kitchen lie several different categories that can help you organize the room. You will have your cookware, appliances, kitchen tools, utensils and so on. Take everything in your kitchen and separate it into piles with the major categories. This will take time, but the finished product will be well worth it.

3. Save the necessary
After separating everything into categories, sort through what you really need and what is just taking up space. Do you really need four cake pans considering you make a cake once every few months? Throw away any doubles unless you use them frequently and get rid of all old appliances that are never used.

4. Storing
Now that you know what you are going to save for your kitchen, begin considering where to store it. You will want to look at where certain items will fit, how frequently you use the different categories, and where the appliance will be used in the kitchen.

5. Purchase space savers
There is never enough room in a kitchen to store everything you want to. Because of this, splurge and purchase a few space savers for your kitchen such as pull out cabinet organizers, wall rack systems and steel expanding shelves. You can find all of these things at Bed Bath and Beyond or home improvement stores.

6. Admire your job
It may take time to organize, but the finished product will be a well-organized kitchen. You will be able to easily find what you are looking for and it will be less cluttered. By throwing out doubles and unused products and moving unrelated products to a different room, you will no longer have to deal with the hassles of searching through hundreds of things to get that one bowl for salad that you are looking for. Now you can go to the kitchen and quickly find what you are looking for and begin cooking and eating with ease.
