Have You Found A Penny Recently?
by Knight Pierce Hirst, Kni
If finding a penny is lucky, I must be luckier. I found a quarter and was lucky all day - especially when I didn't hurt my back bending over to pick it up. Traffic lights turned green for me, parking spaces appeared where I wanted them and the police car with the blaring siren that was quickly approaching me on the freeway sped past me.

If it had been my husband who found the quarter, he wouldn't have had to finally admit we were " a little off course" and have to ask for directions. Of course, if it had been John who found the quarter, he wouldn't have forgotten our anniversary; and we wouldn't have been taking a guilt trip to a jewelry store.

In spite of that, John says I bring him luck. That means I must have luck to bring. If I have luck to bring, how do I keep from bring all of it?

A four-leaf clover is meant to be lucky. So is a horseshoe if it's hung right-side up. A rabbit's foot is lucky for everyone except the rabbit, who obviously didn't have lucky charms.

Lucky Charms cereal, however, is lucky only for dentists. Fortune cookies occasionally warn of dangers, but that's the way the cookie crumbles; and if I consult horoscopes for predictions of luck in my future, I have to be prepared for horrorscopes.

Finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow would be luckier than winning the lottery, but how do I find the end of something formed by the refraction, reflection and dispersion of light in rain or fog?

According to feng shui, if I hang a bell by the front door, luck will enter my home; but if I hang a bell by the back door, luck will leave. Maybe if I hang a bell by the front door, Cousin Walter will leave through the back door.

According to feng shui, keeping things in pairs promotes luck in a marriage. I'd think the most important thing to keep in a pair would be John and me.

Seeing a falling star is supposed to be lucky, but would seeing Michael Jackson be lucky? When it comes to stars, I know I can wish on the first one I see at night - and I did. I saw Ray Liota at a charity function and I wished on him.
