[U146]Used Flat Panel Monitor
by John Thompson, Joh
Since the flat screen display came on the market, not only has it gone down substantially in price but also the variety of flat screen monitors has increased. There is now a model and price range to suit almost everyones budget. When choosing a flat panel monitor, there are some things you should consider.

Prices on flat panel monitors vary by size and manufacturer so shop throughout and compare the prices to get a great monitor at reasonable cost. Prices vary but on average, the fifteen inch to nineteen-inch displays average price range is $200 - $700.

If your display does not refresh or redraw itself at a high enough frequency, flickering occurs. When deciding on a flat panel display, select one with a refreshing or redraw rate of at least 70 Hz or higher. This way you are not distraught with flickering.

Remember when choosing a flat panel screen that the dot pitch on a display should be small as the picture is sharper. The highest dot pitch you should go is .28 so you have a clear, sharp picture.

The two most conventional resolutions used on a flat panel display are 800x600 and 1024x768. If you try a higher resolution, it fits more on the screen but is harder on you eyes. Some people work around this by adjusting the internet browser font size.

Choosing a flat panel display means going for one that has a great contrast ratio. This measures the difference between the darkest black and brightest white. The most common contrast ratio is 300:1

By following these guidelines, deciding on a flat panel display will be less confusing and you will end up with a screen perfect for you.

All your really need from your computer monitor is the resolution to word process, honestly, unless you are some kind of super gamer, or perhaps an artist or graphics engineer. However, a flat panel monitor can be nice and make your computering experience more pleasant by far. First of all, it takes up much less power than a normal monitor, (also known as a crt monitor) so a flat panel monitor can greatly improve your computering experience by decreasing your electric power consumption.

Second of all, there is a subtle distortion provided by normal crt monitors which you don't get with flat panel monitors. Your normal old standby crt monitor has a curved scree, and although your mind has been carefully trained to edit it out through hours and hours of fixedly staring at the computer screen, nonetheless, it does cause eyestrain which can be avoided with a flat panel monitor.

You won't really understand the difference until you try a flat panel monitor, so I suggest just trying it - your eyes will thank you, and then you will have to track me down and thank me. A flat panel monitor just has a clearer image, and that is that. It doesn't distort, and besides that, the colors are more even and there isn't the flicker of a normal monitor. You are trained to edit out the flicker too, but believe me. It is there, and you will notice the absence of it when looking at your beautiful new monitor.

Also, since so many people look at movies on their computer, if you are one of them, (and I know I am), it absolutely makes sense to buy a flat panel monitor. It just makes the image prettier, and the experience more enjoyable. Especially with the lights out, any distortion can cause vertigo and discomfort, so for your own viewing enjoyment, how can you go without a flat panel monitor.

Another reason for a flat panel monitor, although probably not the biggest reason for most of us, is that it saves space. It lacks the size of a normal monitor - not only the screen, but also the body of a flat panel monitor are flat. This means you can fit it in a smaller space, or can have more room on your desk for other things such as books or amusing office executive toys such as wheels that spin up and down ramps indefinitely.
