Another holiday is Martin Luther King Day. This is celebrated on the third Monday of January. There is no fixed date of this holiday. This is celebrated in order to admire the efforts that Martin Luther did for saving human rights.

Another holiday event is Valentine's Day. People greet valentine to their loved one. This is a day of lovers. This is celebrated on 14th of February. Then there comes the Easter. This holiday changes from year to year and it is celebrated on a Sunday. In this day, Christians keep fast for 24 hours. This is a religious holiday for Christians.

On the last Monday of May, there is another holiday named as Memorial Day. This day is in the memory of the people who died in the civil war in America. Then there comes an independence day on the 4th of July. On this day, flag is widespread all around the country. In addition to that fire works is done in order to celebrate this holiday.

On the first Monday of September, Americans celebrate Labor Day. This day is typically for those people who work day and night for their livelihoods. The second Monday of October is used to celebrate Columbus Day. Then on 31st October, Halloween is celebrated. This is one of the holidays that everyone likes specially children.

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Then the last celebration and one of the biggest celebrations of the year is done on the 25th of December. This is the Christmas Day. People give their children gifts telling them that this gift was brought to them by Santa clause.

So these are the holiday events that are celebrated in the United States of America. There might be some other holidays that are scheduled in the states irrespective of the whole nation.

Thanksgiving Day in America is celebrated with lot of fervor and euphoria on the fourth Thursday in the month of November. For the people in the United States, Thanksgiving is a time for intense feelings of happiness, excitement, love, gratitude, and expressions of those feelings with people they love. It is also a time for shopping, family reunion, feasts and family dinners. People also take time to thank God for His constant grace and for all the material possessions man enjoys. For many, Thanksgiving is also the time to thank near and dear ones and being grateful for their kindness. Thanksgiving Celeis a time for communal thanksgiving, feeling gratitude and having lavish feasts. It is a time to remember the pilgrims. The original pilgrims celebrated the autumn harvest with a feast of thanks. The feast popularly known as the 'First Thanksgiving Day Feast' was held as a gesture of thanks to almighty God. It was celebrated in the year 1621. After the United States gained independence from England in 1776, Congress recommended a yearly day of thanksgiving for the whole nation to celebrate.

Celebrating the day in America with lavish meals and the gathering of family and friends, the day was originally thought to be one of Thanksgiving that the pilgrims shared with Native Americans. If it were not for the Native Americans teaching the pilgrims how to plant crops and cook in the strange land, the pilgrims could not have survived. It is a celebration to mark the respect towards the Native Indians and give a tribute, but it is mostly a gesture of thanks and gratitude to the Lord Almighty for His blessings. It epitomizes the holiday mood of people. Christmas shopping also begins the day after Thanksgiving with the biggest, busiest day for retailers, known as Black Friday. In America, traditionally the holiday is a day set aside for giving thanks, having a relaxed meal with family and friends which includes turkey, stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce and ends with desserts like traditional pumpkin pie and pecan pie, then watching sports on television while visiting. It is an annual event where most stores allow their workers to have the day off to be with their families. Thanksgiving gives Americans a chance to share with others and most Americans truly enjoy the day and the harvest season celebration.
