[T1210]Trade Show Las Vegas
by Dexter, Dex
According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, in 2002 more than 5 million convention and trade show delegates traveled to Las Vegas, generating $5.9 billion in non-gaming revenue. Las Vegas hosts a large percentage of the top conventions and rents more convention space than any other U.S. city. The climate is not usually a factor unlike others cities which have to contend with excessive rain, snow, etc. The city has grown to accommodate the needs of exhibit and convention attendees.

Since that time we have seen world famous hotels imploded, The Sands, The Dunes, and Stardust, just to name a few . These hotels have been replaced by some new Mega Hotels, housing more rooms and convention space. The Mandalay Bay, The Venetian, Luxor and many more are being built. The main Convention hall, The Las Vegas Convention Center has had to do major expansion as well. The LVCC has host many large conventions, The Comdex Show, Interop, SEMA, and CES are a few trade shows held here.

The expansion has served as a great backdrop for convention goers. The exhibitors now have more space to show all of their new and innovative products. The exhibit booths have gotten more and more elaborate. One company that provides this type of trade show booth is ELDS, INC. They are a full one stop exhibit company that provides custom modular and portable trade show display for all shows. The LVCC has more competition form all the newer hotels emerging

With this growth traffic can be a nightmare. Las Vegas introduced its monorail system. The system runs along the strip to and from most Mega hotels and conventions halls. This certainly helps in getting around in such a tight knit environment. The system reaches up to 50 mile an hour and runs from one end of the strip to the next in less than 15 minutes. The parking situation can also be a mess, this cut down on parking as well.

The slogan "What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas? means let your hair down and enjoy the new expansion of the City. The night life is fabulous

Conventions are still growing. There are over 9 million square feet of exhibit space in Las Vegas, Thanks to the addition of the Mandalay Bay convention center which opened in 2003. Over 127,000 guest rooms are available. McCarren International airport still remains efficient, being approximately 15 minutes to most mega hotels in Las Vegas. Conventions are still growing and Las Vegas is growing to accommodate them.
