by Paulineh James, Pau
Learning how to deal witanxiety and depression is not an easy task for anyone. Depression is a challenging illness that requires professional treatment and is the most common type of mental illness. Unfortunately, some become trapped in a brutal cycle of anxiety leading to depression and ultimately give up on the battle. Little do many people know, there are plentiful approaches to manage anxiety and depression.

Every year, nearly 10% of American's suffer from anxiety and depression. That's around 18 million people. A lot of busy people who don’t seem to be able to relieve stess and take time of from work, as well as their worries, tend to actually start having nervous breakdowns, anxiety depression and all sorts of mental illnesses. It is often hard to find a tailored individualized cure for such yourself from this anxiety.

A doctor might advise taking prescription medicine, mixing with others more positively, keeping a journal to track thoughts, seeking therapy, eating healthy food and exercising, or meditating, in order to deal with anxiety attacks and depression. The most popular method of dealing with anxiety and depression is therapy which is probably the most important as well.

Therapy helps people cope with their issues by helping them understand why they have the problems to begin with. It is often easier to talk to a therapist instead of a friend or a family member because you get a positive, objective view and you don't weigh your family or friend down with your problems. It is much better for them to just have a supportive role in your life and leave the rest to the professionals.

The latest prescribed medications that treat anxiety and depression are safer and more effective than past medications on the market. In spite of this, medications still present risks and fatal side effects. The purpose of prescribed medical depression and anxiety pills is to produce more natural chemicals in the brain to rehabilitate the brain's chemical balance, all while relieving the depression.

Meditation is another method to deal with anxiety and depression. While the body is relaxing, it releases stress from the mind. Relaxation, healthy eating, and exercising are safe, natural ways to treat symptoms of depression. Proper nutrition is substantial to body functions. Exercising naturally releases serotonin into the brain which then enhances moods.

Writing in a diary also helps relieve stress and tension, but reading back can trigger negative emotions. If you are going to try this then just sit down and write and try not to think about what you are writing. You don't have to read what you just wrote right now but can go back to it at a time you feel you can cope better with what you have written. You may find the answers right there in that diary but couldnt really define or verbalise.

Therapy, prescription medications, meditating, eating healthy, exercising, and keeping a diary are just some of the ways to deal with anxiety and depression. There are attainable methods and treatments for everyone, all you need to do is acknowledge you need help and then to get it.

Years ago Joseph Addison said, Music, the greatest good that mortals know, and all of heaven we have below.? Yes, music has a great impact on human mind as well as every living being, even science cannot deny the fact. There are a number of physical and mental problems which can be treated by rhythm, those include stress, chronic pain, insomnia, addictions, smoking, cardiovascular illnesses, post-traumatic-stress syndrome, TMJ, panic and anxiety, anorexia, bulimia, depression, low self-esteem, stress, creative or emotional blocks, anger, fear, sadness, hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder, stress and insomnia, anxiety and pain during birth, colic and anxiety in the newborn infant, breastfeeding, emotional armor, conflicts, infertility, cancer, anger, AIDS, infection, fear, lack of self-respect, immune system suppression, scleroderma, frustration, individual transformation, self-reflection, heightened awareness, relaxation and inspiration.

How music can be used to treat anxiety and depression:

1.First of all, the selection of music is important. It is advisable to keep sound tracks ready for different types of moods, like anger, depression, distress, stress etc. You may consider some light music when you are angry, or you may use song related to happiness of life when you are depressed. It is not necessary that those songs would make you feel better, rather you may feel irritated. So, it is advised to follow a proper sequence for each music compilation.

2.Start with a song that matches your current mood, for example if you are depressed; select a composition which speaks of extreme depression followed by song of mild depression. Then choose a neutral song followed by a song of happy mood which is uplifting and motivating and then if you feel like listen to a peppy number in the end. This way you will be able to honor your current mood and perpetually transform from that point

3.You should not use headphone, instead use speakers so that every cell of your body can soak in the rhythm.

4.When you are prepared with the music tracks, loosen your dress, sit down, and relax!

5.Start listening to them one after another without any interruption, so that you can intake the music within you and thus allow the optimum response for the transformation process.

6.While Listening to the music, do not involve yourself in any other activities, you just need to 'listen' to get the best benefit.

7.Remember, this is not meditation, you need not sit still and concentrate on the music, just let yourself loose. Set yourself free and respond to the music, if you feel like crying, do that, if you feel like dancing, dance your way out, or just close your eyes, enjoy the music as if you are lost in the music. This way your emotion will be released and you will respond to the transformation.

8.When the music stops, enjoy the silent solitude around you so that your emotion gets integrated slowly.

9.You can use a journal to keep a record of your progress it can be helpful.

Music is the food for soul that heals the emotional wounds thereby flowing tranquility within, through mind to body and invigorating the complete existence.

However, in cases of extreme one should take the help of doctors and medicines such as . Anti- depressant medicines are like two way knives; they treat your anxiety but if taken in wrong way can lead to addiction hence always like pills on doctor's advice and as per the given prescription.
