[T1324]Treatment Of Varicose Vein
by Alishasmith, Ali
Now, however, you have a lot of varicose veins, and it's time that you got some varicose vein treatment. You went to your dermatologist for a consultation, and were in turn asked a bunch of questions. You answered them all as honestly as you could, knowing that your answers would help the doctor to determine the proper varicose vein treatment for you.

It is recommended that people interested in using horse chestnut to cure varicose veins take two to four 500-mg capsules of the herb daily.
Another thing found to help cure and prevent varicose veins is antioxidants. Antioxidants contain bioflavonoids that strengthen veins. People with varicose veins should eat antioxidant-rich foods, which include fruits and vegetables. The more colorful the fruits and vegetables, the better.

Acupuncture can also help varicose vein problems. Acupuncture reduces the size of varicose veins with no side effects. In one study, five treatments of acupuncture reduced the pain in most people with varicose veins.
Believe it or not, pineapples also contain a natural chemical that treats varicose veins. The chemical, called bromelain, reduces the swelling and soreness that are caused by varicose veins. Bromelain can be taken in capsule form.

It appears that varicose veins are hereditary. Studies have shown that people who have family members that have varicose veins are more likely to get it. Weak veins and walls may also be inherited characteristics.

The first problem is that veins are always superficial and have less effective valves compared to the arteries; this is reasonable since they transport blood back to the heart with far less pressure compared to the arteries. However, this means that veins are more prone to valvular incompetence (i.e. failure of the valves to prevent back flow of blood).

Secondly, the veins of the lower extremities have to transport blood back to the heart against the force of gravity. Transporting blood against the force of gravity exerts a greater amount of stress on the veins of the legs than any other part of the body and this is why varicose veins commonly occur in the lower extremities.

Varicose veins are one of the few conditions that have both medical and psychological implications. Varicose veins, also known as spider veins, usually occur as a result of faulty valves or other problems within a vein that impede the normal flow of blood. This cause blood to pool in the vein making it enlarged, twisted and visible. Though it can occur in any part of the body, it is most commonly found in the back of the lower part of the leg. This is understandable, considering the fact that; (1) the legs have to carry the weight of the whole body and (2) the veins of the leg have to transport blood all the way to the heart against the force of gravity.
