If you have yet to see the difference between standard and high definition programming, there is a place where you can go to get a look for yourself. Your local electronics retailer has big screen, high definition TVs on display in their show room and they are inevitably showing high definition programming of some sort on them each and every day that they are open for business.
Just walk right in and see for yourself a high definition big screen TV in action. The visual trade off that used to have to be made with a big screened TV, was picture clarity and resolution in exchange for size. Simply put, the bigger the screen on the TV, the further away from it you had to be to watch it.
A big screen TV used to require a large room for it to be in, or it was unpleasant for you to watch it. For someone with an apartment or condo, the big screen TV was simply not an option. High definition has changed all that, because you can stand right in front of a big screened high definition TV and see a vivid, crystal clear picture now.
The reason for this is whats inside of the screen on a high definition TV. For years the amount of vertical lines of resolution and pixels in the actual TV screen has remained the same. These are what your TV makes the picture on the screen with. The high definition TV now has twice as many of these in the screen, to create a more finite picture for you to watch on the screen now. Twice as many pixels and vertical lines of resolution means that you now have small screen picture distinction and big screen size all rolled up into one TV set.
High definition from DirecTV also includes the audio function as well as the picture. DirecTV high definition programming is broadcast with digitized surround sound, with Dolby noise reduction technology and the result is a theater quality surround sound that is equal to what you would expect from a high quality CD player.
So the visual and audio effects from DirecTV high definition programming, combine to create a whole new TV viewing experience. The cost of big screen high definition TVs has fallen dramatically since high definition first made it debut and you might be surprised at how affordable a high definition TV is now, particularly the smaller models which are all in the hundreds now.
Why cut corners and sacrifice quality in your home entertainment system if you dont have to. As many times as you are going to be watching the great programming from DirecTV, it only cost a penny or more to watch it all in high definition, each time you turn your set on. So the next time you are driving by your local electronics dealer make a stop and take a few minutes to go in and see for yourself the huge difference that high definition makes on the big screened TV.
