[B651]Big Bass Fishing Games
by Joseph Brown, Jos
When you go to your big bass fishing activity, one good advice is to study the body of water where you want to fish. Most big bass can easily be found in the dark portions of the water, usually where a piece of structure such as wood is located. This is a favorite spot for big bass to hide and settle in. The darkest portion of the wood is where the big bass is most likely to lie in. However, the smaller sized bass are more restless and are swimming around different locations of the structure. They prefer to play and bury among and brush pile and just wait for a long time until a prey comes swimming by.

You can try looking over the water for the dividing line between the clear water and the muddy water. This division is usually a potential place to fish for the big bass. You can find this particular location wherein a stream is flowing onto a body of steady water. Just between the contact point of the stream and body of water is a visible line ? this is a favorite holding out place of big bass.

When it comes to using live baits for big bass, there are many reliable ones, but the best bait for the bass is the live shiner, especially the wild or native shiner. Live shiners are easily found anywhere in bass country; however such baits are usually raised and grown in nurseries and hatcheries. Shiners are usually around 3 to 5 inches long, have a silvery hue and are not hardy. Shiners are best hooked from the bottom through the lips using size 1 to 5 bait hooks. A usual plastic worm hook is reliable, but you should try using an offset-shank bait hook as it is the preferred hook of veteran anglers.

Actually you can easily catch a big bass from a body of water whether you fish on a shallow area or from a much deeper area like 25 feet deep. Try finding a dark spot in just a few feet of water. Search for a stump and fish its dark portion. Of course, you can cast your bait at the lighter area, but always try first at least two casts at the dark portion. Try to do correct casting on the first try as improper casting of the bait can possibly mess up the area and will keep the big bass from being aggressive when you finally make the right cast.

The first point to know about big bass fishing is where to actually find the fish. Then of course once you've found them the next point to learn is how to catch them. Of course with a rod and bait, but what are the different techniques, tricks, and presentations you use to land yourself a winner. The tougher part usually is locating them however, there are many factors that contribute but you can learn them.

Time to Do the Deed

When it's time to do your big bass fishing, make sure you know how to read a map. When you find out the location you need to be in order to catch the bass, you need to know how to get there. Knowing what the water depth is and understanding what it means will help, and going on a day when water clarity is maximized can help greatly.

The temperature needs to be right, so check with the local fishing authority to make sure you are visiting at the right time. There are also some things to look for when it comes to locating big bass on any given body of water. Look for vegetation areas, as the bass like to harbor here and it is a perfect place to find them. Finding shallow water that is also close to deeper depths of water is the best place to find the big bass. Keep in mind that structures may get in the way of finding the bass, so stay away from them

Fishing with Friends and Family

A lot of the excitement that comes from big bass fishing is when you do it with family and friends, and a friendly competition is healthy for any group. So as my father and I have small tournaments between ourselves to produce the biggest bass, you can do something similar to spice up a trip with friends or family.

Planning a big bass fishing trip can become not only a wonderful memory yourself, friends and family but also a tradition. While you may look down your nose at fishing trips it's a don't knock it til you've tried it sort of sport. So get some friends or relatives together, get online and start searching for areas close to you where you can go fishing for big bass. It's an outdoor activity you won't soon forget.
