[W309]Weight Loss Center Results
by Terry Sandhu, Ter
Just because somebody has successfully lost weight,it doesn't mean that you will by following the same method. The stats show that just 9% of people who diet actually manage to lose any real weight. Advertisers will use the success of the 9% to try to sell you their products, and for obvious reasons they fail to mention all the people that have failed to lose weight through their products or methods. They absolve themselves by adding words like 'may' or 'could' help you lose weight to their products. These words don't actually mean anything.I mean i 'may' or 'could' win the lottery?

The trouble is that our bodies are not identical, there a various differences in each of us and not everything we do or consume is going to affect us in the same way. So it stands to reason that just because something affects someone in a particular way it doesn't necessarily mean it is going to affect you in the exact same way. We are all individuals, not only in mind but in body as well. Many diets and weight loss products are sold as a one fix for all solutions, but our bodies are too complex for any one thing to fix everyone, and there isn't actually a quick fix for weight loss.

Our metabolisms work in different ways. Some people have over active metabolisms. People with fast metabolisms can virtually eat anything without gaining weight, and all they have to do is yawn and they drop calories. To people who have trouble losing weight this may seem to be a great situation to be in but people with fast metabolisms have their own problems. They tend to find it very difficult to increase muscle, and who doesn't want a muscular and stronger body.

Some people have perfect metabolisms where they find it easy to lose weight and also easy to add muscle. These types of people are often involved in sports and have had the good fortune to have great genetics. On the whole these types of people make everybody else envious.

There are many of us who's metabolisms work at a trickle. Weight loss can be problematic for these people. All they have to do is to smell a burger and they will gain a pound. If you fall into this group then weight loss will be more difficult but still very achievable. Losing weight is not about blindly following the crowd,it's about knowing what is going to suit you best as an individual.

Don't get despondent if you feel that you have a slow metabolism, after all it is only one factor of many that will decide if you lose weight. There are dteps that can be taken to make your metabolism work more effectively. Exercise will boost your metabolism; another good way to increase the effectiveness of your metabolism is to eat more frequently. This means instead of eating 2 or 3 times a day, you should split your calorie intake over 5 or 6 small meals a day. eating smaller amounts of food every few hours will increase the effectiveness of you metabolism. When this happens it will not need to store calories.

You could include the following variations in how you may or may not lose weight:

How often you exercise and how much exercise you do. Your calorie consumption. The types of calories you eat. How much mental commitment you have to reach your goal. How active your life is. Give yourself many small targats that you are confident of reaching. imagining yourself as if you have already lost weight. Overcoming procrastination. Keeping a positive attitude.

The good news is that all these factors can be improved to a much higher level. The fact is that weight loss is achievable, you just need the preparation and the right knowledge. Forget about how something was successful for someone else.Learn what is going to work for you and give yourself credit that you are capable of doing this. Always keep in mind that there is no quick fix for weight loss.

Every month there are new claims which are often backed up with extensive research and studies. However, if scientists themselves find it difficult to decide what the truth is,then one cannot expect the lay man to know any better.

Most people don't have the time or inclination to go through a dozen scientific studies so they remain confused about how to lose weight. While there is no sure shot solution, one can follow certain sensible guidelines to ensure that they eat the right foods and get appropriate amounts of exercise in order to lose weight.

Always view out sized claims skeptically especially if they contradict long standing notions on what is best in the world of nutrition.

Although there might be several studies that have been conducted in the field of health and nutrition most of them have come to the conclusion that a well balanced diet which includes all the food groups like carbohydrates, proteins etc and age appropriate exercise are important factors in maintaining optimal health.

Losing weight is not an overnight process so do not be fooled into programs that promise quick, safe and easy results. Reducing fat and getting into shape requires a long term commitment and a good weight loss program will always consider safety first.

Do not be conned into trying or any program that scares you into adopting it. For example there are some that try and hype the dangers of consuming meat. While it is a known fact that consuming excessive red meat can lead to health risks, what is considered 'Excess' is still being researched upon.

Any claim that eating meat in moderation is harmful is based only on 'Junk Science'. Science doesn't warrant people to turn vegetarian unless they want to for their own personal reasons.

Moderation is the key and one should try and avoid going to extremes to achieve weight loss.

Some newer diets actually recommend that people eat only fruits the first 3 days and then consume other foods the rest of the week. Such diets are generally not a good idea because they create imbalances in the body which can have adverse effects on an individuals health.

On the other extreme there are some diets that encourage people to eat more protein and very little carbohydrates. What we need to realize is that the body requires all the food groups in adequate quantities in other to extract and synthesize what it needs. In other words, it should possess a certain amount of carbohydrates to generate energy, proteins to produce amino acids, fiber and other essential elements to sustain healthy functioning.

The bottom line is that one should not be naive enough to believe in products that promise effortless, quick and instant results which at the same time claim to be safe and reliable. In reality weight loss requires long term commitment and effort on our part to achieve.
