The Viscaya Museum and Gardens is one of Miami's most cherished landmarks. This beautiful property, owned by Miami-Dade County, was built in 1916 by agricultural industrialist James Deering. Visitors can come to the museum 364 days a year to see over ten acres of gardens and beautiful exhibits. Visit the Viscaya Museum and Gardens on August 31, 2008 for a free Sunday at Viscaya.

The Viscaya Museum and Gardens is host to over 185,000 visitors every year, including many notable figures like Pope John Paul II, President Ronald Reagan, Queen Elizabeth II, and King Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain. International events like the Summit of the Americas and the signing of the Free Trade Agreement were held at the museum. The Viscaya Museum and Gardens is a popular location for private weddings, ceremonies, photo shoots, and birthday parties. It not only serves as a beautiful environment, but it also preserves its many historic collections and offers an educational experience to its visitors.

The Viscaya Museum and Gardens is located at 3251 South Miami Avenue in Miami, Florida. It is open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm 364 days a year (closed on Christmas). Adult tickets are $12 and children's tickets are $9. All Miami-Dade County residents (with a proof of residency) get a 25% discount. Parking at the museum is free, and the Viscaya offers buses for large group tours.

Check out the Viscaya Museum and Gardens this September for some cool events. On September 6, there will be a free performance of Falstaff and Hal, directed by Rafael de Acha. On September 14, families can come to the Viscaya for Viz(ual) Arts ? an interactive exploration of the museum's marble floors.
