[W568]What Shows Up On A Background Check
by Steve Gee, Ste

It's very easy to get background checks done on people online but it's not so easy to find out what shows up on a criminal background check without actually signing up to one of the online public records web sites. You can always get a refund if you aren't satisfied of course - Make sure that the site has a good guarantee - but it's still a lot of bother if you have to do that. A much better way is to examine some samples of reports from such a web site before joining. That way you can decide if it's worth a try before you get your credit card out.

Don't expect to find everything in a background check

Don't get me wrong here because I think that there are some online public records web sites that do an absolutely amazing job of providing you with all kinds of interesting information about almost anyone that you can think of. The databases aren't perfect however. They use hundreds if not thousands of databases from all over the place and you can't expect them to have everything.

Having said that, I have personally managed to find several old friends and check the criminal record of someone recently. In fact I found the information that I was finding to be just a little intoxicating. I didn't want to stop searching because I was finding all sorts of interesting stuff. I was getting hooked.

What comes up on a criminal background check

When you talk about a criminal background check you should think about a background check that includes any criminal history. The person you are checking out may not have a criminal history at all but there is probably still plenty of information for you to find. Here is a brief list of just some of the data that might show up.

State criminal records check, email addresses, name and address, address history, civil filings, relatives and associates, arrest warrants, neighbors, property ownership, neighborhood check.

Find out what you can expect when you use sample reports of background checks

If you take a look at some samples of reports from the web site that you think you might join before you sign up then you can get a good impression of what to expect once you are in the members area.

When I was trying to work out which public records site to use I found it very difficult to find any information at all to indicate what I might find if I joined up. That's why, when I found a good site, I secretly copied all the sample reports and put some of them up on a web site so that everyone could see them.

When you've looked at the reports and decided that it's the type of information that you are interested in you can go ahead and join the web site. As I said you can't expect to find out everything but there's a very good chance that you'll find more than enough information to make it more than worth your while. It's fun too so give it a go.

Background checks are very common now. While people applying for a job used to just go through a simple background check, nowadays people can do a background check for just about any reason and the checks have become much more extensive than they used to be. What is an extensive background check? Read on to find out!

To help you determine who the players are in this article, the person who is receiving the comprehensive background check is known as the "subject" while "checker" will be the name used for the person that's performing the background check.

A detailed background check unveils the following facts about the subject to the checker.

Identity: Verifying someones identity is a very common practice today. It's become increasingly important for businesses when reviewing job applicants. Here is some of the wealth of details that can be unveiled when running a comprehensive background check.

This information can consist of the subject's social security number (this can include the date and place of the issuance of that social security number), date of birth and previous addresses. An identity check can also turn up any aliases and even the names of every person who has ever shared an address with the subject, including roommates! The identity portion of the extensive background check can also turn up the driver's license verification, any marriage records and even death records (if applicable).

Finances: Financial information is also important on background checks. This tells creditors whether the person is financially responsible and might alert a potential employer to financial "flakiness" which might be a result of poor employment history. What is an extensive background check into a person's financial information?

The details that show up can include property records, vehicles that are registered to them, and details about their credit history - including any court records regarding bankruptcy and judgments against them.

A financial history, that shows how the subject handled their credit, is generally given when doing a background check. Their credit details include their available lines of credit, their current bills and payment history, and all loans they've received. Oftentimes, you will even find out what companies they have worked for over the years.

Professional History: The professional history of a subject may shed light on how valuable they might be as a new employee.

When checking out a subjects professional history, you may discover items that they were not disclosed by the subject which could be either detrimental or advantageous to you if you plan to hire them. They may have affiliations with other businesses or organizations they didn't think was important. They might have professional licenses that are important to your business but they didn't think so. Find out in advance so you don't have to find out after you've hired them.

Criminal History: A detailed criminal background check can save you from hiring a potential employee who may be a convicted felon with a violent past. If you have two candidates with essentially the same capabilities, why not choose the one without restricted rights that might impact your business in a negative way?

The criminal history check will always include a look through the Sexual offender's database; this can be done by name or location. There are also searches for felonies, these records will contain details about the offense and description of the ordered sentence. A criminal history check can also check the state wide criminal records. Criminal records stay in a state's database for seven years.

A subjects criminal history may also show a driving record as well as any county-wide criminal records.

When dealing with folks you're not sure about, a detailed background check can surely help. Whether its to check out your kids teacher to make sure they aren't a sex offender, check out the caregiver for your elderly mom to make sure they don't have a past
