[W538]What Is The Cause Of Cancer
by Dr Laurence Magne, Dr
The fantastic science of chemotherapy began because it was noticed that Mustard Gas caused the destruction of fast growing cells. In the average human body, the fastest growing cells are hair follicles, stomach lining, immune system, bone marrow and hair follicles. This serves to explain why Mustard Gas was an effective agent of warfare; damage to such major systems of the body would cause obvious illness and death.

After World War II, a number of other chemotherapy agents were developed, all of which operate in basically the same way: attacking and killing growing cells.

As an analogy, suppose you were to tell an exterminator that you have a termite infestation in your home. The exterminator, a profession whom you are entrusting, tells you that the best course of action will be to use a chemical which is known to eat away at both the wood and the foundation of homes, as well as causing irreparable damage to furniture and windows.
But, after all, you really do want to get rid of those termites, right?Basically, the use of chemotherapy is the same type of treatment. Another way to look at it would be using a sledgehammer to open a peanut.

Chemotherapy is, admittedly, effective at reducing tumors because it's a highly effective and toxic poison. It's designed to kill cells and it does its job very well. It's also very effective at hampering the immune system, damaging the gastrointestinal system and, effectively, causing a great deal of damage to the human body.

Chemotherapy treatments are effective at many things, especially at diminishing the quality of life for cancer patients.

Chemotherapy treatments also happen to be carcinogenic. Yes, carcinogenic. Remember, a carcinogen is something that has been shown to increase the chances of developing cancer.

Returning the termite analogy, we can add that the chemical will saturate your home with a substance that is known to potentially attract termites again in the future. Who in the world would let this person exterminate their home using these chemicals?

This is one of the many reasons that it is so vitally important to pursue all of the available options to dealing with cancer. Far too many doctors only consider the standard treatments, such as chemotherapy, despite the well established health risks to the patient.

Now with a headline like that, chances are you are reading this because either you or someone you love smokes cigarettes. If that is indeed the case, it is very important that you continue reading because the following article is filled with some very important information regarding the health risks associated with smoking and new developments that can help smokers avoid the common risks associated with smoking traditional cigarettes.

Recently a number of new patents have been granted for something called the Electronic Cigarette, also known as the e-cigarette or smokeless cigarette. It is a promising new invention that allows you to smoke in all of the places where smoking cigarettes is prohibited and at the same time electronic cigarettes are void of all of the cancer causing agents found in traditional cigarettes.

The electronic cigarette works like this. It is a small battery powered device that looks, tastes and feels just like a regular cigarette. When you inhale, you activate a flow censor which releases a nicotine based water vapor, which you inhale into your lungs. While nicotine does present certain health risks, current studies have not found it to be associated with causing cancer. Instead it is the burning and inhaling of tobacco that presents most of the cancer risks associated with smoking cigarettes.

While electronic cigarettes are not smoking cessation devices per se, the fact that the nicotine strengths come in full, medium, light, and none, suggests an obvious benefit to those trying to wean themselves off smoking.

Electronic cigarettes also come in a variety of flavors such as regular, menthol, apple, and strawberry. While the fruity flavors might sound a bit odd, they are actually quit enjoyable. Even many long time smokers find that they favor the fruit flavors over the traditional ones, strawberry in particular gets many enthusiastic reviews.

A debatable drawback to electronic cigarettes is the fact that a starter kit runs about $100. However, the refill cartridges are considerably cheaper than regular cigarettes and within a few weeks the savings far exceed the cost of traditional cigarettes. In fact, if you average smoking one pack of cigarettes a day, at an average cost of $6 per pack, you will begin saving money on about your fortieth day of using an electronic cigarette as an alternative to traditional smoking. Over the course of a years time, the savings would amount to more than $1,000. If you smoke two packs of cigarettes a day, the annual savings is doubled, and you begin saving in half as much time, or about 20 days.
