The way you feel about your body, your figure, and the way you look, has an effect on your weight loss success. If you do not love your body, then it will be hard for you to achieve your desired appearance.
Most people understand very well that exercise is important for their overall health and well-being. However, one complaint that I hear most often is that they just don't have enough time in their schedule for exercise, especially with the fast paced lives that most of us lead nowadays.
It's perfectly understandable after all, that if most of us are starved for time in our busy daily routines, we will find it extremely difficult to allocate sufficient time for exercise. However 10-15 minutes of exercise performed 3-4 times a week will do a lot to improve every aspect of your physical health. No special equipment or props are needed, and in fact a number of exercises can be done in the morning while you are still in your pajamas!
Some routines are be so easy that you may be tempted to think that they are not doing much good at all, but if performed properly on a consistent basis, 10 minutes of exercise daily can get you in shape pretty quickly!
It is a matter of getting your head round the desired sequence of events! If you start to feel that your body image is improving, in turn your weight loss attempts will be much more successful, and again in turn, your body image will improve even more.
Here are a few exercises that you can do in just 10 minutes to improve your total overall fitness and health, and they will also have a very beneficial effect on your body image over and above! Everyone can find ten minutes somewhere in their day to do this, and nobody will convince me otherwise. It only requires a little commitment on your part, so go for it and start the ball rolling!
Three Minutes of Sit Ups
- Lie flat on the floor on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor.
Place your palms on your hips and run them up to your knees, pulling yourself up by your stomach muscles. - Do as many of these sit ups as you can in three minutes.
Five Minutes of Step Ups
- Find a step of about 6-8 inches of height. Step up with your left foot. - Raise your right foot to join it. - Take your left foot off of the step and then your right foot to join
it.
Repeat For 5 Minutes
Two Minutes of Press Ups
- Lie on your stomach. - Bend your arms at the elbows and place both hands flat on the floor with your thumbs at shoulder level. - Keep your toes flexed and on the floor. - Push on your palms to raise your upper body. - Your back and shoulders should be flat and your buttocks should not be sticking up. - Fully extend your arms but do not lock them. - Now slowly lower your body back on to the ground and repeat as many times as your can in two minutes.
I am sure that may of you may already know the benefits of exercise, but the question is does it form any part of your life at present! If not, make a start right now by making a firm decision to commit to it, begin slowly, then gradually work your way up to more and longer workout sessions.
The whole point of this article is to motivate you take action, by showing you how very very easy it is to make significant changes to your health and appearance, simply by doing a few simple and enjoyable exercises.
I wish you happiness and the best of good health.
As a parent, you have the upper hand when it comes to changing your teenager's conception's on beauty, since it is you whom your child trusts the most. Reverse the negative pressures by rebuilding your teen's positive body image, he or she will thank you for the effort in the end.
Despite the explicit efforts of your teen to clam up in front of you, he or she wants to communicate. The difficulty may lie in the generation gap or the sudden onset of adolescence, but if you want to regain your teen's confidence you have to ensure that the communication lines remain open despite the sudden shift in the relationship.
Your teenager may be embarrassed to discuss issues of a sensitive nature, or may be presently unwilling to talk for personal reasons. Make sure to keep yourself approachable if your child is hesitant to open up immediately and prepare to listen when he or she decides to finally speak up.
It also helps to talk about issues on food and weight on a positive light. Avoid counting your calorie intake in front of your teenager, especially if you are aware that he or she is weight conscious to begin with. Refrain from making the misstep of using the words 'thin' and 'pretty' or 'beautiful' in the same breath; this leaves a wrong impression on your child and does much more harm than any progress you've done so far. And since teens are known for their insatiable appetites, make sure you have plenty of food within reach whenever the hunger pangs kick in, but none of the junk and more of the veggies and fruits.
Your teenager may also be bombarded with a lot of misconceptions which are fed in part by the media. The skinny models and porn stars in print and on the internet, and slim teenage actresses on TV.
If your teenager is particularly enamored with soft porn stars that's one thing; but to build his or her entire self-image on how soft porn stars and actresses look can lead to a road which causes eating disorders and a broken self-esteem. You need to nip this tendency at the bud as soon as it presents itself by telling your child that most of what's on the mass media are mere illusions of what beauty should really be like.
Place more emphasis on what your teenager does rather than on how he or she looks. Compliment actions, and not how beautiful she fits in that dress, or how buff his body looks. More importantly, make sure that your teenager knows how much he or she is loved no matter what, even when they are at their worst. Parental loving care is the perfect antidote to the pressures of society which oftentimes prove to be too much of a burden for teens, and you alone can provide it for your child's own benefit.
