For those who suffer periodic heartburn, prevention can be the key to having a good day. Knowing what triggers the onset of heartburn will enable a person to avoid those triggers and prevent heartburn from ruining an otherwise good day. Those suffering frequent heartburn should keep a diary for at least three weeks, detailing everything they eat or drink and at what time to better understand what foods cause heartburn. Prevention may be as simple as changing the foods being consumed or the time of day in which it is eaten.
