If you have signs of aging, more than likely you have a dry skin.

Once or twice a week you should incorparate a dedicated exfoliator into your regime. These work by sloughing off the top layer of (mainly dead) skin cells and encourage cell renewal. This will brighten up the complexion considerably making it feel very smooth.

Astringent : A clear liquid that lifts off that last layer of dirt from the skin, tightens the pores and neutralizes excess oil; to be used after cleansing, before applying the moisturizer. It usually contains alcohol which helps clean the skin and inhibits the growth of bacteria. It can also be used throughout the day to counteract any buildup of oil on the skin. A toner, used for the same purpose, does not contain alcohol. You can use either.

Toning is essential for removing the dirt, make-up and oil that cleansers fail to remove. Some people take this step as optional. But people with oily skin and combination skin can greatly benefit from toning. Because it acts as an extra step to eliminate oil, it also lessens the chances for pore blockage leading to acne.

Tips for skin toning
Potato is a effective skin toner especially for dry skin. Rub a piece of potato alll over the face and then wash well with cold water.
A piece of cotton should be used with astringent lotions.

Take Two tablespoons of lemon juice and mix with 1 tablespoon glycerine and three tablespoons of rose water. Rub this juice on the dry skin.
