Natural Tanning And Protection Against Overexposure
by Ursula McLean, Urs

People may choose to do sun tanning without any clothes and go completely nude. This can maximize the health benefits of tanning and increases the sensatory experience too. This is also a great way of avoiding the tan lines such between the exposed and the unexposed parts of the body. There are several beaches across the world where nude sun tanning or sun bathing is allowed.

These beaches are known as naturist, nudist, nude or clothing optional beeches. In Denmark, most beeches with the exception of two allow for nudist sun tanning and bathing. In the US, beeches that allow topless are Haulover Beech, Gunnison Beech, Black's Beech and Black's Beech.

Tanning beds is also used by people in us and Europe to achieve the kind of tan that they are looking for. These beds emit uva and uvb rays (95 percent uva and 5 percent uvb). Each bed has several fluorescent lamps that emit the light similar to that of the sun. Tanning booths are similar to tanning beds but the tanning stands and the power consumption is higher than the tanning beds.

These beds are used by people since it makes them feel good. The tan can also be achieved in the winter months and can be used as a base on which to build on in the spring and summer to getter a deeper tan. Tanning from the beds is very cosmetic and is light as compared to the tan that is produced during sun tanning.

Of course staying out of the primary sun is one of the most effective ways of dealing with overexposure and sunburns. Sunscreens should contain both uva and UVB blockers. These are known as broad spectrum sunscreen lotions. Sunscreens should also be safe for the skin and shouldn't clog the pores or cause acne or rashes.

Sunscreens should be applied thickly on all parts of the body that are exposed to the sun. It should also be applied thickly to make a difference. If a person is unsure about the thickness, switching to a sunscreen lotion with a higher spf might be a better option. Sunscreen lotions need to be reapplied every 2-4 hours if a person is in the sun. If a person is playing outdoors, then the sunscreen lotion should be waterproof and sweat proof.

While getting a tan remember that the sun is strongest from 10 in the morning till 4 in the evening. Go for few breaks while been out in the sun, else there is risk of overexposure and the sun can also get burnt. When the shadow of a person is shorter than the actual height of a person, the risk of overexposure is the greatest. At higher altitudes and at equator, people should protect against overexposure to sun.

It's important to wear a wide rimmed hat and uv blocker sunglasses to cut down the harmful rays from penetrating the eyes. Also reflective surfaces like snow and ice can increase the impact of the uv rays to a great degree during tanning.
