What I found fascinating was this one guy that went up to the soda bar. You know that multiple dispenser of numerous sodas and ice teas. This guy had to be 6' 3" and weigh about 260 pounds. He had one of the largest plastic glasses I had ever seen. It must have been 1/2 gallon. He stood there filling his container for what seemed like 20 - 30 seconds. He was getting iced tea. Nestea to be exact.
I started thinking. This big guy is not the only one doing this. Hundreds if not thousands of people are meandering up to the soda bar. They are filling up their glasses or vats or jugs every day or every week. Some people are doing it more than once when they go to the fast food eatery. The soda is for free and you have paid for the glass.
People in general like things that are for free. There are a few things at play here. Free, big soda glass and cold and sweet tasting. A deadly combination is at hand.
I started thinking again. What's up with this soda? It's unlimited, cold and full of sugar. I know what some of you are thinking. Get the diet soda. That is for another discussion about the aspartame and other artificial sweeteners. Let's get back on track with the non diet soda. Going back to this type of food store that offers an all you can drink menu that provides an endless supply of sugar has been around for five to 10 years or longer.
Diabetes is claiming more and victims. Teenagers are being hit with this disease at alarming rates. Maybe just maybe this soda has something to do with this disease. If sugar, one of the main ingredients in soda was not so cheap do you think you would be able to get all the soda you wanted at no additional cost?
I am not saying that soda is the only culprit that causes diabetes. What I am saying is how innocent it seems to be to have free soda. This free soda has a cost. The price we pay is with our health.
With so many of these soda do it your self bars springing up all over the place can diabetes be too far behind? Think about it. A huge glass and unlimited product for free. And it's very cold as well.
Are these soda bars a breeding ground for diabetes? I wonder. Maybe there should be a free diabetes blood tester coupon next to the soda bar.
