Getting To The Airport Without Stress
by Matthew Reider, Mat

No one likes going to the airport. Even if you're picking up someone you love, the idea of wrestling with all of that traffic is enough to send even the calmest person over the edge. In order to get to the airport on time and without the frustration of previous trips, here's what you need to keep in mind.

The first thing you need to realize is that getting to the airport early is really your best defense against stress. While you might have a long time of waiting around for the plane to depart, you will also not feel rushed through security or in finding a parking spot when you arrive. If you absolutely do not want to get to the airport hours ahead of your flight, try booking your flight first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

There are other ways to get to the airport on time without the hassle of driving. Many airports are now offering low cost shuttles to and from the terminals. This system allows you to get onto the bus at a designated location and then to ride to the airport and be let off at your terminal. Though you will still need to park at the bus station, this is often conveniently located near your home or neighbourhood.

You might also want to invest in a taxi to drive you to the airport. You can schedule this service ahead of time and ensure that you will arrive on time. All you need to do is call the taxi company and ask them what time you would have to leave in order to arrive at the airport at a certain time. They will give you an estimate based on their experience with traffic and then you simply wait for them to arrive at your home or work, load up your bags, and then you're headed to the airport without any road rage.

Another option is to consider taking public transport, if that's available where you are. This might be a little uncomfortable when you have a larger bag, but it's certainly going to run on time and get you to the airport with less hassles.

You might also find that asking a friend to drop you off or combining any of these options is a great way to make your flight and start your vacation off right.
