by Jennifer King, Jen
Are your discovering nail ringworm to be disconcerting? Never thought you could cure it on your own? You have a good choice of easy to use home cures for nail ringworm so you won't have to automatically have to go a doctor for treatment. You will however need to pay your doctor a visit for a correct diagnosis
It has never been known to be dangerous to anyone's health, but is known to be bothersome for many people. It can start as innocently as a tiny line on your toe. This could soon spread to other toes, and then become a bigger problem. Medical drugs can be dangerous, expensive, and need to be taken orally for up to a year.
Here are some easy to follow natural cures for your nail fungus:
You can immerse your infected nails for about fifteen minutes every day in slightly warm water and equal parts apple cider vinegar. The apple cider vinegar helps to restore the natural PH balance to the skin. This makes your nails more resistant to fungal infections. At the end of these 15 minutes make sure to dry your feet completely. Use a hair dryer (on low heat), if you need to. Drying your feet out thoroughly will prevent any moisture to be left between your toes, and keep nail the fungus at bay. Moisture is one of the main reasons for the occurrence of nail fungus.
Tea tree oil is easily accessible at health food stores. Use a cotton bud and apply some on and under the edge of your nail. Use as little tea tree oil as you can on each nail as it is very strong and if it makes contact with your skin, there are chances that your skin will peel off. Be extra careful not to let it touch your skin every time you use it. If you want to achieve fungus free nails then this is an excellent treatment.
Lapacha tea is yet another natural treatment that is easily found in any health food store. It's as simple as making the tea and then soaking the infected nails. If this is done a couple of times a day results are assured.
There are some other moderate substances that can treat nail fungus, such as Vicks Vaporub, oil of oregano and olive leaf extract. Using something more oily will kill the fungus head on and protects the area completely.
Be consistent with any of these home cures till your nail ringworm has gone. Nail ringworm commonly roots itself deep in your nail bed, and that's why it's important to be consistent with the home remedy you have opted for until your nail grows out, and aids in the nail ringworm going completely.
Preventing your nail ringworm from happening in the first place is far better than treating yourself all the time
Change your socks often as your socks can also invite nail ringworm to reside under your nails. Wash your socks on the hottest temperature that the socks will allow so none of the infecting fungus lives. Also clean your socks with a detergent that has the least amount of fragrances and chemicals in as possible. These can throw out your skins natural PH balance, and this puts it in favor of the ringworm.
It is imperative to air your feet often enough. The nail ringworm loves your feet to be warm and moist. Airing them stops the fungus from infecting you.
Wearing relaxed fitting shoes will help prevent moisture from appearing. Tight footwear creates a moister, warmer foot that the fungus loves. Take your shoes off any occasion you can to aid in the air circulation of your feet.
Remember to buy new shoes once you have successfully treated your nail ringworm. You don't want any surviving ringworm to start your problems again.

If you still manage to get infected, you should strive to contain it in its early stages. Here are some tips for natural toe nail fungus prevention and self-care.

- Make sure that you always have dry feet. Use a clean towel to keep your feet dry. Fungus love moist places and moist nails. This could be one of the reasons for infection or a worsening of an initial infection.

- Avoid going barefoot. This is especially important when you use public showers or go to pools. Walking barefoot is the easiest way to catch a fungal infection in public places where there is a lot of water. If you have to go to wet area, always wear rubber sandals or slippers.

- Clean your nails. You should however avoid trimming too close to the skin or flesh. Doing so could result in skin cuts that could leave an opening to the nail bed. This is the perfect entrance for fungi.

- If you have to go to a salon, be very picky. The tools used to clean your toe nails could also carry fungi that could transfer to your toes. Pedicure tools should be clean and even sterilized.

- Avoid wearing nail polish if you already have an infection. Polishing your toe nails could become tempting because you want to cover up. Nail polish however could further trap moisture in and promote the development of the fungi.
