[C1016]Control Of The Mind
by Vcode Infosystems, Vco
We all have the need to grow. The desire to become better, to have more and to improve our lives is a basic human need. In order to be happy, fulfilled human beings we must grow and expand our lives consistently. The key is consistency. Our lives will never be 'sorted' for a real sense of happiness and fulfilment comes from aconsistent improvement in the quality of our lives.

For us to experience this sense of fulfilment we dont need to make major life changes on a daily basis. Similarly, you dont need books of self improvement ideas to make a difference in your life. You need self improvement ideas that you can use and apply and make part of your life. These ideas neednt be complicated. It is often the simplest ideas that create the greatest changes in our lives.

By making small incremental changes towards our ultimate vision of our lives on a daily basis, we start to build unstoppable momentum in our lives. People often rush in and create massive changes in their lives and try to change everything in their lives overnight. This kind of change and self improvement rarely lasts.

Whenever you learn a new self improvement idea or skill, commit yourself to it. Make a real decision where you absolutely commit yourself to use and utilize it until it is conditioned as a habit of mind. Start with small and simple
self improvement ideas and build on it.

All change and self improvement start in our minds, on the internal world, the part of life over which you have absolute and total controlWe cant control the events and circumstances around us but we can and have absolute control over our interpretation of it. Nothing in life has any meaning except for the meaning you attach to it. You cannot direct the wind, but you can direct your sails.

The challenge is that we tend to get caught up in the circumstances of life and allow the environment to take control of us instead of us controlling it. Remember what Benjamin Disraeli said: 'man is not the creature of circumstances; circumstances are the creatures of men.' It is not what happens but what we do with what happens that shapes our lives.

The most important self improvement idea is to learn to take control of your mind. This is actually a lot easier than you might think, if you think about it for our thoughts are the basis of our minds. We are who and what we are in life because of our thoughts and therefore every improvement in our thoughts must by definition improve our lives. The
law of attraction states that we attract into our lives the experiences that harmonize with our dominant thoughts.

In order to learn how to take control of your thoughts requires an understanding of what a thought actually is. Thinking is nothing but a process of asking and answering questions in our minds. The easiest way to utilize this self improvement idea is to start asking ourselves better questions. Questions like 'why cant I do this? or 'why does this always happen to me?' will hardly create empowering thoughts for your mind will give you answers to these questions based on your memory.

Teaching your mind to ask questions like 'how can I do this?' will create empowering answers that keeps your mind focussed on what you ask of it. Questions are the control mechanism of your mental focus. You can make yourself feel good or bad, angry or sad by just focussing your mind.

Complex forms arise out of simpler forms. All things come out of the Natural Order of your Source; all are moving into form, through form, and out of form. You did not come into this world; you literally came out of it. Therefore you are like your Source. In turn your Source has to be like you.

Do not loose hope. If there is no time to stop work for thirty minutes to complete your distressing routine, you can still help yourself to a happier and healthier lifestyle.

Laugh

While it is not appropriate to stand in a business meeting and laugh, listening to a comedy through your headset, which causes you to smile and chuckle low while continuing to meet your deadline, produces amazing results.

Your facial muscles receive a natural workout which also relaxes them. A Loma Linda University study reveals that laughing, and even the anticipation of laughing significantly decreased men's stress.

Other studies prove that laughter can boost the immune system, reduce pain, decrease stress, and lower the chances of a repeat heart attack/ All these benefits are felt inpatients who watch only 30 minutes of funny videos daily.

Many of us spend more time than that driving to and from work, walking, or doing mundane jobs. Slipping on a headset while working is an easy solution.

Smile

Research by psychologist Paul Ekman, PhD, University of California, San Francisco, gives new life to the old question, "If you're so happy, why don't you tell your face?" He found that 40 percent of people have "smile muscles," and pasting a smile on your face sends a message to your brain that says you are happy. If you're one of the lucky 40 percent, then you have a natural built in stress buster.

Whine

Men call it complaining, professionals call it debriefing, teens call it chilling, and women call it venting. Life coaches call it Power Whining. I know people who have ?power whining groups.?

One group are all connected to each other via the internet. They IM each other and complain about their day. The other person doesn't need to ?own? the complaint. They just need to listen and care. The complaints are usually limited to 10 ? 15 minutes, and must be honest ? not emotional. Name calling, toxic communication, and gossiping will not work.

Call a friend and tell them that you're stressed and = need 2 minutes to unload. She is to listen, no interruptions, and most important, she is not to offer solutions.

When you're done, reciprocate. When both of you finished, wrap up with a 1-minute monologue each, describing the things for which you're most grateful. Tell your friend what is happening in your life, what changes you've made to improve and empower yourself, and how glad you are that you have a good friend.

Music

Music transcends culture, economic barriers, age and time. From ancient times of war, to today's corporate offices, people have turned to music when stressed. But, the choice of music is vital. Listening the wrong music will increase stress.

Research has revealed that music like the Mozart, may increase your spatial reasoning, a form of intelligence crucial to problem solving, and reduce my stress.

Raymond Bahr, MD, a cardiologist at St. Agnes HealthCare in Baltimore, found that cardiac patients who listened to classical music for 30 minutes experienced calming effects that were equivalent to a 10-mg dose of Valium.

Aromatherapy

Some people are stimulated by scents. Peppermint spray, lavender, and floral scents are most popular. The olfactory sections of the brain that process smell are wired into emotional centers. So, you need to find the smells that you associate with pleasure and relaxation. If it is chocolate ? so be it.

These things can be combined to increase the distressing benefits. The important thing is to experiment and practice until you find the combination that will work best for you.
