[C1156]Cover Window Air Conditioner
by Jason Uvios, Jas

When you are fed up with the hot summer afternoons and have finally decided to go for an air conditioner, you are making a conscious choice of investing a significant amount on the device. Any investment of such magnitude need to be well thought out and once the amount is invested, you should take care to see that you get value for your money.

It is alright to research about the kind of air conditioner you need, the brand that is most trusted and the style that will go best with your room décor, but it is equally important to take proper care of the unit for it to remain efficient, perform at its peak ability and last long.

One important aspect of maintenance of an air conditioner is the cover you use for it. The cover of an air conditioner is meant to protect the unit against inclement weather conditions like extreme heat, dew, cold drafts, condensation, etc. a cover would also keep out dust and small insects from getting into the body of the air conditioner or any of its components.

Covers of air conditioners are usually made from synthetic materials like vinyl, terylene, plastics or Dacron. Best thing about these covers is that they are washable and can be put back on once it is cleaned and dried. They are easy to remove by just unzipping the plastic zippers. Some even come with Velcro fasteners. The covers are supposed to cover the entire air conditioner except the ducts and the controls on the body of the air conditioner. They come in all sizes and shades. Generally you wouldn't have trouble in getting the right size for your air conditioner. But always make sure that the one you are buying would fit in your unit. If the shop allows for replacement in case of any problems after purchase, then that would be ideal. But since most are made to fit the size of standard air conditioners, there shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Since the cover would actually wrap almost all of your air conditioner, remember that the looks of your air conditioner would no longer matter. However, the way the cover looks would be critical, especially if you are putting a cover for the air conditioner in your living room. Good news, there are plenty of designs available, and many are quite aesthetic. So looks shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
