[C1240]Credit Cards And Checks
by Tom Tessin, Tom

There is a Jewelry company that gives you the opportunity to get a credit card with “no credit checks”. This credit card makes it easier for Americans to get a credit card without going through the traditional means. Today because of our economy it is becoming more and more difficult for Americans to get credit cards even those with good credit are finding that their line of credit is being reduced or even cancelled. Those who have bad credit are finding that getting a line of credit is getting harder or even impossible.

Crown Jewelers are now offering a unique credit solution to meet a variety of needs for those who are trying to get credit. They are advocating that you should save your credit card for those emergencies and use their credit card. They offer you a credit card with no credit checks. This sounds very tempting and who knows perhaps other credit lenders might follow suit someday. Crown Jewelers claims that this is not a secured credit card or a prepaid card. They are offering you a unsecured credit line that offers a “Guaranteed Zero Down” feature in as little as six months. This opportunity sounds too good to be true.

The company states that if you meet their qualifications that you can get your credit card. This is a good way to build your credit score so the company claims. The problem is that you are required to make your purchases with the company. Your account is not an active unless you make your purchase on line with the company. Once you made a purchase and the merchandise is shipped then they start making reports to the credit reporting agencies. After that if you keep a good payment time schedule then your credit score will naturally improve. In order for you to upgrade your credit status then you need to make purchases increasing your credit limit. This is only natural but since you are only purchasing from that specific company in order to use your credit card it really does not benefit you when you want to use the card for other purposes like making airline reservations etc. There are other companies that are doing the same thing offering customers a line of credit on their credit cards offering to make reports to the credit reporting bureaus to help your line of credit. This is a good way to help your credit but it is really not the best way.

When looking for these cards, there are a few things that you need to remember. Sure, there will be cards that say “no credit check” but the question is if they are going to help you. You want to make sure that they report to the credit bureaus. As long as they do this, you're going to be on the right track to fix your credit. Don't just sign up for the first card you see because you may find that you're using a card that isn't even helping you.

Every credit card company tries to lure customers by saying they have best offers. But if you dig deep in you will come to know that there is more to explore. While choosing a credit card, you must clarify the terms and conditions with the credit card company beforehand to avoid complications in the future.

APR (Annual Percentage Rate)

Annual Percentage Rate is an important factor both while choosing and using the credit card. APR tells you the payment you will be making on carrying over a balance, taking extra cash, etc. You must ask the issuer the periodic rate before taking the credit card. Also, if you are taking a variable rate card, then you must understand how the rate changes.

Annual fees & other fees

Carefully look at the annual fees before choosing a credit card. Though the annual fees vary, normally it is from $25 to $50, or may be $100 if you plan to choose a gold or platinum credit card. The credit companies can also ask you to pay fees if you happen to exceed your card limit, make late payments, or get a cash in advance. So, be careful while using your credit card.

Grace period

Grace period should be seen carefully while choosing a credit card. Grace period is the period that the credit card company provides you for paying the bills. If you receive the bill on the 15th of the month and you have to make payments by the 30th, then you have a grace period of 15 days. While using the credit card keep in mind that most credit cards companies do not give a grace period for cash advances and balance transfers, and charge interests instead.

Balance computation methods

If your credit card company does not provide you the grace period, then you must know the way your balance is calculated. Common methods of computing are Average Daily Balance, Adjusted Balance, Previous Balances and Two-cycle balances. You should be aware of these methods while using your credit card.

These are the few significant factors you have into consideration while choosing and suing a credit card. Other than this, make sure that you keep your credit card.
