Ten weeks ago, the fifth season of Dancing with the Stars began with six male celebrities competing with six female celebrities. Little by little the group of twelve was reduced to the final three, where entertainer Marie Osmond, Scary Spice Melanie Brown and speedster Helio Castroneves stood ready to face the final showdown.

It had been a great journey for them, despite the hardships, especially for Marie Osmond, who went through some personal issues while in the competition. Nonetheless, her fans and supporters kept her in the competition, while slowly and surely making her way to the final three. Last night, she landed on the bottom of the judges' list, scoring 46 out of 69, thus causing her and her partner, Jonathan Roberts to be the tenth couple to be eliminated from the competition.

Tonight's two hour broadcast was filled with performances from all of the previously eliminated couples. Josie Maran and Alec Mazo performed an impressive foxtrot, followed by Albert Reed and Anna Trebunskaya, and Mark Cuban and Kym Johnson. Unfortunately, Wayne Newton and partner Cheryl Burke weren't able to perform, as Newton 's doctors ordered for him to stay off the dance floor as of the moment. Floyd Mayweather and Karina Smirnoff were also among those who did not perform as Mayweather was busy preparing for an upcoming big fight. Tonight's best performance was courtesy of Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas, who danced the cha cha in their most sparkling performance ever.

Cameron Mathison and Edyta Sliwinska also had a notable performance of the pasa doble, and Jane Seymour and Tony Dovolani and Jennie Garth and Derek Hough graced the dance floor once more.

During the last quarter of the show, Melanie Brown and Helio Castroneves performed, with Brown and her partner dancing the mambo and yielding a perfect score. Castroneves and his partner then reprised their yellow-costumed quickstep and also garnered a perfect score. Brown had 85 out of 90 while Castroneves was behind by one point. After computing the votes and scores, Helio Castroneves and his partner Julianne Houghs finally emerged victorious, garnering mirror ball trophies and the title of the new champions of Dancing with the Stars.
