[D22]Dare To Be Different
by A.caxton, A.c

You've just spent a considerable amount of money on the interior of your closet, installing a closet organizer to assure that your shoes, ties, belts, scarves, dresses, shirts and slacks are all easily accessible. As nice as the interior of your closet now looks, you don't want the effect to be spoiled by a door that doesn't do it, or the rest of your bedroom, justice.

How big is your closet?
Of course the type of closet door you have depends in large part on the size of your closet. If it's a wall closet - very shallow - then of course you'll need a different type of door then if it's a walk-in.

The four types of closet door, therefore, would be the simple panel door that opens outward and lets you into the walk-in closet, bifold doors that let you view your wall closet, and the sliding doors which could be used for either version, depending on the length of the closet itself. The accordion door is also a choice.

Bifold doors would allow you to use over-the-door system to store shoes, for example - which would not work with a sliding door. Sliding doors can look more attractive than bifold doors, however.

Matching or contrasting colors?
Of course the first thing you'll have to decide about the door is its color. You'll need to find a color that will match your bedroom walls, or set it off in a striking manner. If you'd like to give your bedroom the illusion of greater size, than you'll want to get mirrored doors. And for that really elegant touch, you can even get sliding frosted glass doors.

And you'll have to give some thought to the future, of course. If you like to change the color of your bedroom every now and then, you won't want to have to change the closet door as well because it would clash with your new decor.

Vinyl or wood or what?
And what should your closet doors be made of? You've got a lot of varieties to choose from: stamped steel, hollow core, super-thin wood, or solid wood. Solid wood doors give you the most variety in their design, for you can have them hinged, folding, sliding or with pocket applications. These doors can have flat panels - to which you can affix mirrors or fabric, or louvers. (Kestrel Wood Closet Doors is one company that offers solid wood doors of high quality. They also do custom doors.) For mirrored closet doors, Fort Glass (fabricators of Stanley Mirror Doors) are one provider out of several that you can investigate on the web.

There are so many choices that you won't want to rush into your decision. Take your time investigating sources on the web, visit such stores as Home Depot or Menards or the specialty stores in your area. You can also take advantage of open houses in housing developments to go in and visit these houses and see the way those closets and bedrooms are designed. You'll then be able to make an informed decision.

Are you about to order the same old same old promotional items that your company has used time and again? There are certainly a lot of good reasons for sticking with the tried and true promotional items. The gurus will tell you ?don't mess with success?, ?if something ain't broke, don't fix it? and ?don't rock the boat?. Still, there is something to be said for daring to be different and break out of the usual mold with promotional items. Unless the promotional items that you're ordering are a standard brand trademark, take a look at some of the ways that you can ring a few changes on the ?same old same old? song.
If you usually order printed pens:
1.Try a different range of pens in the same price category. Printed pens don't have to be boring. There are literally hundreds of different styles and types of pens on offer at promotional items suppliers throughout the UK.
2.Go bold to make a statement. Choose printed pens in bright, standout colors that won't get lost in a purse or on a desktop. Or opt for big, chunky pens that fit hands comfortably and write with smooth as silk gel ink.
3.Go for a bigger share of the desktop with mouse mats instead. For about the same price as a printed pen, you can order hardtop mouse mats that make your advertising message stand out big and bold against the all the background noise.
If you usually order printed mugs:
1.Go upscale with your mugs with a more stylish range of printed coffee mugs. There are dozens of styles of promotional coffee mugs on offer at promotional items suppliers. Choose a range that fits your company image, but is just a little different than your usual style.
2.Give your coffee mugs legs. Instead of ordering standard printed mugs, choose a range of distinctive travel mugs this time around. Your customers will appreciate being able to take your name out on the road with them ? and you'll appreciate the added exposure that you get.
3.Play with their minds for a change. For about the same price as a coffee mug, you can choose from a variety of puzzles and games to keep your customers entertained for hours on end.
If you usually send out promotional mailers:
1.Get dimensional. Instead of your usual flat brochure, put your message onto a magic cube that will stay in front of your customers for weeks. They can be mailed flat, but open out into 3-D messages that can be arranged and rearranged to show your company from many different angles.
2.Challenge your customers with a range of puzzles and games. For about the same price ? and in many cases less ? than a traditional brochure, you can put your advertising message on a jigsaw puzzle, puzzle tray or magnetic sheet that will intrigue and tantalize your customers.
Be transparent. Put your logo or message on transparent window stickers for maximum impact. They'll add just about nothing to your mailing costs, and will increase the chances that your brochure or advertising message will be read.
