[D296]Diets For Losing Weight
by Paul M. Jerard Jr., Pau
It should be understood that Yoga was never designed to be a weight loss system. When Yoga was first developed, approximately five thousand years ago, obesity was not the problem it is today.

On average, people did not live as long as we do. At the same time, people were much more physically active. We rely on machines, use computers, and sit much more than our ancestors did five thousand years ago.

So, where do we get this idea about Yoga and weight loss? The most common form of Yoga, outside of India, is Hatha and its many sub-styles. Hatha Yoga's approach to physical exercise is usually low impact movement, holding postures, or Yogic breathing techniques (pranayama).

From the outside looking in, Hatha Yoga doesn't seem to place much demand on the body - in comparison to running, cycling, or jumping rope. However, Yoga is not an exercise system. Yoga is a complete health maintenance system, which improves your mind, body, and emotional state.

Practitioners of Yoga tend to practice for decades without injuries. Much like anything else, it is possible to hurt yourself if you push too hard or force a pre-existing injury. Finding competent Yoga instruction is also important.

Yet, in comparison to any other physical activity, students of Yoga will practice for longevity. The reason is - Yoga becomes a lifestyle and it is fun to practice. It is not a dreaded chore to practice Yoga. In comparison, if you ask most people about standard forms of exercise, they will tell you they see exercise as torture.

This is the main reason why most people are physically inactive; they do not enjoy exercise or they find it boring. This is where Hatha Yoga has a big advantage over exercise systems. On top of that, there is a Yogic diet, which is also known as the Sattvic diet.

In a nutshell, the Sattvic diet is vegetarian and consists of natural or whole foods. Sometimes, people will find this eating boring, but let's try a different strategy. The next time you go shopping - do not try to make a big change all at once.

Introduce a few natural or whole foods for weekly meals. Reduce take-out meals and lower the consumption of meat - especially processed meat. By making a few small changes at a time, you will improve your life and the lives of your family members.

Giving family members the choice of processed food, beside natural or whole foods, will open their minds to new tastes. Gradual change is a natural part of life, while drastic change is something we sometimes accept.

There is no need to make your dinner table a source of conflict. Natural food is just another choice. This is one reason why researchers, at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, in Seattle, saw positive dieting results from Yoga. A lifestyle you are comfortable with has less stress, anxiety, and frustration.

This is also called the master cleanser lemonade fast, lemonade detox diet, Beyonce diet, maple syrup fast and lemonade cleansing diet. It is very popular now. Beyonce lost 20 pounds in 10 days for Dream Girls with it and Robin Quivers (Howard Stern's assistant) heard about it from magician, David Blaine. She lost 73 pounds with it. There are many testimonials of people losing weight and getting other benefits so it is a great way to lose weight before the prom. But there are complaints about it.

Many people have practiced fasting including Jesus, Moses, Aristotle, Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln and many medical doctors. Because of this, it has been constantly improved upon. But because the lemonade diet was created by one person, Stanley Burroughs, it has attracted many people who are afraid to improve on it or change anything about it. So they follow it as a cult.

It is similar to fasting since they are not eating food and consuming water, which is the main ingredient in the lemonade. So they get many of the benefits of fasting like losing weight. The lemonade diet recipe contains these ingredients: water, freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. It is better to take the cayenne pepper in a shot glass with water so you can enjoy the lemonade fully.

People experienced with fasting know that you do not have to worry about the colon. Fasting gives it a vacation and it works better than ever. With the lemomade fast people lose weight (like for the prom) and get health benefits from not eating. But there is a practice done as part of it known as the Salt Water Flush where you drink water with a lot of salt in it. This is what is bad about the lemonade diet. This has genererated many complaints. I tried it once but never again because I felt sick after doing it.

People complain about the taste of it. They complain about wanting to vomit after drinking it and other problems. It consists of drinking salt water which does not get digested but goes thru and comes out the same way that solid waste comes out. Also they complain how you have to be home with easy access to the toilet since this stuff can come out very quickly. The purpose of doing it is to cleanse the colon. When I did it, I did not know what is bad about it and wanted to see if it really did that and it did. Some complain that it does not work with them.

Now these people do not know why it goes through undigested. The reason is because it is very toxic. It does not take much salt, which is not a food, to kill someone. A guy dissolved 4 ounces of salt (112,000 mg) in a quart of water and drank it and it killed him. A quarter pounder is 4 ounces. The American Medical Association is trying to get the FDA to make salt a regulated substance so they can limit the amount that is put in foods. If someone wants, they can use an enema to clean the colon. They are used in hospitals daily.

If someone consumes no salt at all for 2 weeks, they can lose up to 20 pounds (mostly water weight). I will not go into a full explanation of it which is on my webpage on losing weight, but salt has no calories but can make you fat due to water retention. Water weight makes you look very fat and weighs a lot. Also consuming less calories and burning lots of calories has no effect on this weight. Also people doing the master cleanse will drink a laxative tea which can be too strong and cause intestinal cramping. Stanley Burroughs is dead so he cannot correct mistakes that he made so it is up to others to do it.

Already some who are followers of this lemonade diet have made minor improvements like replacing maple syrup with agave (a natural sweetener from a cactus) and taking the cayenne in a capsule or a shot glass instead of it being in their lemonade. Dr Herbert Shelton (ND, DC) supervised fasts on 40,000 people. On the first 6,000 he had all of them take enemas. But then he learned that in most cases you do not need to worry about the colon and the rest were done without enemas or with anything to address the cleaning of the colon. See site below for more on losing weight with the lemonade diet.
