First run project 1 which is "create keyword list". For this example I'll use the example of "car insurance". Enter the phrase car insurance into step 2. Next you choose the method of selecting keywords. Ask.com is the quickest option to building a large keyword list.

Then go to step 4 and select it to return 1000 results and then click okay.

What happens is the software process these keywords from Ask.com. Click on "report view" and then "edit list" at the bottom of Keyword Elite. Simply click on the first keyword in the list and scroll to the very bottom of the list and click the last keyword while holding SHIFT key down at the same time. This will select all the keywords in the list, no matter how large the list is, and they will be highlighted for whatever use you select.

For this purpose right click and select "send keywords to project 2". This is the project for analyzing PPC competition.

As in this case we are only concerned with creating a high paying keyword list uncheck all of the search engines except Google in step 3. Uncheck everything in step 4 except "google exact match".

Click okay and let the software do its thing. Then click on "report view" and scroll to the right to see the Adwords exact match column. This is the column that tells us roughly how much the top advertisers in Adwords are paying per click for those keywords.

Sort this column in descending order so that the highest paying keyword is at the very top. The more that advertisers are paying for their clicks for their keywords in Adwords the more money publishers will make for displaying their ad on their website.

The simple goal is to choose the keywords from the top of the list that are costing PPC advertisers the most. Then go back to project 1 "create a keyword list" and create a keyword list off that one high paying keyword.

The quickest way of doing that is by using Ask.com but in this instance raise the slider up to 2000 or 3000 keywords in step 4.
