It seems that most acne sufferers have gone through phases where their acne is doing particularly well and other times in which it has been, put nicely, horrible. More often than not, when acne sufferers have relatively clear skin, they are in a happy state. This is often overlooked and this good period is often explained by every and any reason other than emotional health.

I'm here to tell you emotional health has a huge impact on how acne works. Ever notice that when you get one blemish and you freak out over it, then magically 10 other blemishes appear? Part of this is because when acne sufferers go into these negative states, their body becomes quite acidic and consequently, their immune system diminishes. This makes them much more prone to acne breakouts.

Luckily, there are many ways to counter these breakouts once we are aware that our emotions play a crucial role. First of all, you can fake being happy by putting a smile on your face every time you think about your acne. By moving the muscles in your face to smile, your body automatically responds to the 'happiness' motion that your mouth made. Try it right now, put a huge smile on your face and attempt to be angry. I'll wait.

This technique forces you to change your mood, at least temporarily, and helps your body regain it's neutral, or even positive state.

Another technique is to look in the mirror and find a piece of skin that is clear. Then, you must concentrate on this part of the skin and focus ONLY on the part that is clear. This is your face, it is clear. Each time you look in a mirror, you must only look at the clear part of your face. Unconsciously, your mind accepts the fact that you have a clear face and as we all know, you get what you concentrate on.
