[C1332]Current Events In Business
by Tina Gamvros, Tin

Corporate events can be a fun way to boost employee morale and sharpen certain skills that will help everyone communicate more effectively in the office. After all, for most people a good job is more than just good pay – creating a positive environment in which to work will help your company retain quality employees and ensure everyone's happy with the corporate atmosphere. When ties are strengthened between fellow employees, everyone does a better job and productivity increases substantially.

There are a wide range of activities you can organize when staging corporate events. Some of them are explained in more detail below:

Treasure Hunts: A popular corporate event, treasure hunts are a whole lot of fun, but this type of activity also has a practical application. The task of working with fellow employees to navigate around a certain area, follow clues and accomplish objectives helps develop and hone a whole host of skills, from team planning, delegation, time and team management, to communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills.

Team Building Activities: Corporate events that are designed to bolster team spirit are a great idea to consider for your company. These activities usually involve simple problem-solving tasks that employees can master together away from the pressures of the office. In this type of relaxed environment they will learn how to more effectively join forces to solve problems as a team.

For instance, one such team building activity, called the grenade launcher, requires that the teams construct a launcher and successfully fire a missile across a gorge. An activity that is a lot of fun, it also helps teams work together in a friendly but competitive environment.

Another activity, called the spider's web, requires that the team sneak past a giant spider hidden in a tree without alerting it. This particular event requires that the team do a lot of planning and establishes a level of trust between each person.

The minefield allows each person to learn more effective communication techniques. Each team has to come up with their own musical language in order to safely make it through a minefield.

Regardless of the skills you want to reinforce in your employees, choose a corporate event that will be a lot of fun for everyone involved and you won't be disappointed with the results.

Making sure that you thank your staff properly every year and that you build good relationships with your clients has always been crucial for business. As a result there is an entire industry that is based around making sure that you provide excellent hospitality to people that you value in business and there are a number of options that are suitable for all types of occasions.

Because business can cater for people from all walks of life with a broad range of interests finding a corporate event for hospitality can be quite difficult. It has to be something that can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of their age, sex and interests. The best way to find a corporate event that appeases the interests of all of the people that you entertain is to pick something that enables a number of different activities in one event.

For example choose an event that can be enjoyed passively, that can involve people and at a place that serves good food and you will manage to keep event the most random group of people happy. Some of the best examples of this are sports events. This is because they typically allow people to watch sport which can be enjoyed by people regardless of whether they are into sport or not (the excitement of attending a big sports event is not lost on event the most sport fearing of people) and the best thing about sports events is that they invariably offer up great corporate facilities and fantastic food - great for those that really have no interest.

It is essential that you and your delegates enjoy your corporate hospitality events and if successful these events can reap great rewards for all involved. You can develop new friendships and enjoy a great day out. So what are some of the best sporting events that you could attend for a business hospitality day?

Horse Racing

A day at the races is a great day out regardless of whether you are a horse racing fan or not. It can be incredibly glamorous and exciting for people that make the most of the corporate facilities. The food that is served at the horse racing is incredible. The races is synonymous with high class entertainment and horse racing events are great places for hospitality and the food and beverages served at a big meet is second to none.

It is no wonder that horse racing is considered the 'sport of kings'. There are hundreds of race meetings held every year across the UK but the best of these are the bigger events such as the Cheltenham National Hunt festival, the Aintree Grand National and the Royal Ascot event at Ascot. So if you want to wine and dine your delegates with high end entertainment then consider the horseracing as a great option for people with a diverse range of interests.

Cricket

Cricket might not be the first choice for people that are looking to host a corporate hospitality event but it would be wasteful not to consider it. I am not a cricket fan per say but I have to say that my trip to the cricket for a business event was one of the most enjoyable that I have ever attended. The cricket is a great sport that you can enjoy both actively and passively.

The hospitality suites provide wonderful food and drink and games provide a great atmosphere that will interest even those that don't like cricket. The pace of the game allows time for you to chat to your business associates and build up relationships throughout the progress of a game.
