The Last verse in chapter (42) of the Old Testament talks about Jacob said (unto his sons), my son shall not go down with you; if mischief befalls him I will go to the grave.
The Last verse in chapter (42) of the New Testament talks about Peter denied Jesus three times.
The Last verse in chapter (42) of the Noble Quran talks about 1) Islam is the straight path to Allah, 2) to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and 3) all and everything return at the end to Allah.

Old Testament:

Chapter 42 in the Old Testament is Genesis (42); it is composed of 38 verses.
The Last verse is that number 38
It says:

38And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

Genesis 42: 38 (King James Version)

The verse is talking about Jacob said (unto his sons), my son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, if mischief befalls him I will go to the grave.

Chapter 42 in the New Testament is Mark 12; it is composed of 72 verses.
The Last verse is that number 72
It says:

Mark 14: 72 (King James Version)

72) " And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept."

The verse is talking about Peter denied Jesus three times.

The Noble Quran:

Chapter 42 in the Noble Quran is ASH-SHURA (COUNCIL); it is composed of 53 verses.
The Last verse is that number 53
It says:


ASH-SHURA 42: 53

53) "[and you (Prophet Muhammad), surely guide to a straight path.]; the path of Allah, to whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. surely, to Allah all things return. Do not all things reach Allah at last?"

The verse is talking about 1) Islam is the straight path to Allah, 2) to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and 3) all and everything return at the end to Allah.

The verse means that: And verily you guide, you are summoning people, by means of what is revealed to you, to a straight path, a straight way: the religion of Islam, the path of Allah, the religion of Allah; to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, as possessions, creatures and servants.
Surely with the Lord all matters end. Do not all things reach Allah at last? The consequences of all things in the Hereafter reach to the Wise Sovereign'. Surely to Allah do all affairs eventually come?
