Pay Per Click

Pay Per Click seems so inexpensive. Only a few cents per click. Thousands will find your site. Sales will roll in. As with all advertising, some do very well with pay per click but many do not. It takes a lot of tweaking. Of course, it is important to bring buyers and not lookers to your site. After about 9 months of tweaking, the client in our example was getting a 3% click through rate on his ads. His bid for his best keywords was $0.75 cents per click. His bill for Pay Per Click advertising averaged $300.00 per month. He was getting about 400 visitors per month to his site and was averaging 10 sales per month at $49.95 for a total of $499.95. With sales of $499.95 per month and advertising costs of $300.00, this program is profitable but only in a small way. It took a lot of time to manage his pay per click campaigns but it did produce a small profit.

Pay per click gets you very fast results. Your traffic will go up to any level you can afford. But, how does this method compare to others that seem a lot more costly at first glance?

Professional Search Engine Optimization

There are many sites offering search engine optimization. Prices vary wildly. Let's assume you choose a medium package from a very reputable company. Their price for a mid package of optimization and for managing site SEO for a year will average $2500.00. This SEO optimization package produced more than 600 leads per month for the exemplar client. That's about 7200 leads plus site management for $2500.00 or about $0.28 per lead. This is a surprising value in that it is almost 66% less than pay per click and includes site management.

Voice Broadcast Marketing

This same client also used voice broadcast automated telemarketing. The system makes recorded prospecting calls to businesses or residences automatically. There is a one time set up fee $550.00 and a fee of $27.95 per month that includes access to as many lead numbers as you wish plus purging with the ?do not call list?. Once set up, the system makes call for an amazingly low $19.00 per 1,000 calls. Our example client averages 1% response which is typical for the system. That means he gets 10 leads for an investment of $19.00 or a cost of about $1.90 per lead.

So which method is right for you?

I advise all my clients to use all three methods. It is far better to get leads from several sources and to get several types of leads. Voice broadcasting may be better for products and services where you need to speak with the customer and SEO may be best for products that appeal to a broad group of internet surfers. Pay Per Click may be best for products and services that appeal to a ?niche market?

That's why we suggest taking a look at your situation and using all three methods to your best advantage.
