[D519]Does Insurance Cover Abortions
by Rachel Yoshida, Rac
Did you know that in the summer months, and especially in August, it is the high time of the year for lightning? It is said that in the summer there has been more insurance claims on the damage of lightning striking your home than in any other time of the year. Insurance on lightning may be a bit expensive, but it is better to be insured in case this deadly force ever strikes your home.

It is a known fact that lightning causes fires and can burn down whatever it strikes. It can do a lot of damage to everything. It can strike a tree causing it to set on fire. If the tree is near your house, it can land on it and break right through it, causing damage to half of your home. Don't worry, you are covered by your insurance - that is if you have it! There was one time I was watching the news and they were showing a woman that was hit by lightning. The lightning went right though her and melted her shoe to the pavement. She was in a huge crowd of people, and it only hit her. Lightning is very volatile and unpredictable. It can strike anything! Even if it is in a small area or a big one, it does not matter.

If you have a lightning storm in your area take all the plugs out of your sockets. Turn off your TVs, computer, and radios. Also, if lightning hits a telephone pole and you have a power surge, do not touch anything that is metal because you can get shocked and the electricity can rage throughout your whole body. They say that lightning never strikes twice, but it can hit around the same area, so watch out! Don't stand under a tree because it is very unsafe. In fact, it is the most dangerous spot for you to be because this is the most popular area for lightning to hit. Most of the time, lightning strikes a tall tree.

You need to stay away from water, poles, and metal objects. Don't ever go golfing in a storm, and keep fishing rods out of your hands or be on a boat in the first place. Just stay away from any large bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, creeks, ponds, and puddles. You are better off in your home and out of the lightning storm. If a storm is in your area, and it is really dry because it has not rained in a while, then a single lightning bolt can cause a very large fire. So take cover and make sure you have insurance.

Considering the climate is ever changing and the majority of the UK has in recent weeks (June 2007) been suffering from unusual weather and in particular rain and storms, it is now more essential and more important than ever that you know whether or not you are covered by your policy for events such as flooding.

Just recently many people have found that they didn't have the valuable cover needed, while others were lucky and did, when torrential rains hit the UK and homes were flooded and possessions ruined. This one occurrence is thought to bring around 1,200 claims on insurance for the ones that were lucky enough to have cover.

However a sad fact is that while many people do have insurance for their homes and believe that they are totally covered, a staggering 257,000 of all claims against policies are turned down every year simply because the home owner hasn't taken out the right policy or they didn't bother to look at what the policy did and did not cover and have found that they aren't covered when it comes to making a claim.

One of the biggest reasons why adequate cover isn't taken is due to the fact that the majority of people simply take the cheapest policy they find while not looking at what the policy entails. While of course everyone wants the cheapest premium, it is also essential that you have the right amount of cover for your needs, while savings are essential on your premium in the long run cheapest isn't always the best.

When considering your home insurance the number one thing to make sure of is that you have all the cover you need. Using a specialist broker for your home insurance is the easiest way of keeping the cost down and you are able to quickly and easily make comparisons for the same coverage from the information provided by them.

Always remember when comparing policies that they all have hidden exclusions within them and it is essential that you check these out, while one policy might offer the cheapest premiums, it might not include the same cover that a more expensive policy might and as such will cost you more in the long run if you have to pay out for added extras.
