[E100]Ebay Auctions Ending Soon
by ,
Before we had eBay, we had the traditional auction which consisted of live bodies in chairs and an auctioneer up front. Anybody who wants to buy something can still enter in these live auctions thorough eBay. Live auctions are a hybrid - a buyer or seller is right there in a live setting yet is at home using an internet connection.

eBay users are generally accustomed to two notable formats for selling on eBay, either the regular auctioneer method which typically involves bidding and waiting for the auction to end; and the buy it now 'button', which is an instant purchase, no wait time at all.

If you decide to enter in a live auction, be certain that you register first because it's impossible to enter an auction on the fly. The products for sale on live actions can prove to be quite expensive and in some cases unusual. Such items you might find on these auctions are as follows:
* Unique coins
* Asian art
* Native American artefacts
* Exotic jewellery
* Pricy furniture
* Memorabilia from major sports stars
Today, for instance, there are documents signed by John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, James Madison and Ulysses Grant.

Private auctions are similar to the usual auction sale that we're all knowledgeable about with except for one detail - the identities of the bidders are left a secret. Only the vendor has entree to the names. Why would anyone create a private auction?

A. Some sellers habitually use private auctions to make it harder for their challengers to snoop on them. B. The product is pretty expensive and buyers might be uncomfortable having others know they can yield such merchandise. Their concern about their financial status is most in all likelihood misplaced because it is rather possible to distance yourself from eBay contact information, but much of selling is about perception.

C. Restricted auctions are generally used for selling adult items or material. The primary objective is to prevent under aged individuals from viewing the product, which is similar to having protective cover on an adult magazine in a corner store. Even though there aren't many people who are too familiar with them, these three formats for auctions on eBay still counts for millions of dollars of sales each year.

If they suit your business model, you might want to regard them. In addition, restricted auctions are excluded from the Featured pages. So if you are a vendor using this format, your listing will be harder to find.

If you want a broad overview of where you are with your auctions, make sure you pay a visit to my eBay occasionally instead of just relying on emails. With my eBay, you can see all your auctions in a big table, and sort by things like the number of bids and the current price. If you want to see which of your auctions currently has no bids, then you can do that.

One of the most useful things about my eBay, though, is the ?Summary? view. If you're not sure what you should be doing next, then this acts effectively as an eBay to-do list: anything you need to be doing will end up here.

If you're willing to pay the fee of $4.99 per month, you can sign up for Selling Manager, which is a more effective version of the eBay ?Selling? for more detail go to: www.auction-words.com.view. It lets you customize your view more effectively to see the information that's important to you, see useful snapshots of how things are going, make automated responses to your buyers using email templates, and more.

Selling Manager Pro gives you more features: it keeps track of inventory for you, and lets you realist items in bulk. It will even produce a monthly profit and loss report to help you keep track of the big picture. Unfortunately, it costs $15.99 per month.

Even though they're called listing tools, much of the software out there lets you manage what you're doing long after it's been listed, with all the features of Selling Manager and sometimes a few more besides. This programs also often have the advantage of being programs instead of websites, meaning they're faster to respond and can do more sophisticated analysis.

After your auctions end each time, there's an easy way to put the exact same thing back again: the ?Realist? button. You can Realist items quickly and easily this way, as long as you don't want to change in the listing.

Here's something you might not have considered: if you're listing so many expensive items that even automated selling tools take too long to use, then have you considered paying someone to help out, as an employee? After all, you wouldn't try to staff a shop full-time on your own, would you? If you already run a business, you could even give the responsibility to someone who works for you there. Freeing up your own time to do something else might pay off for you in the long run.

When you're managing so many auctions, sooner or later you might need to cancel one of them early. The next email will let you know when and how you can do it.
