Learning the musical notes.

Playing a guitar is a bit like learning the building blocks in a childs toy. The toy has different shapes and colors for whatever you wish to build. So it is with music and the guitar.

Notes are the musical notes which is the language of player. When these are written down or played together they give us tune or a song we may recognise. Anyone whishing to play the guitar needs to understand a least the basics of musical notation or tablature. The notes are the funny wriggly signs on the music sheet.

They way you place your fingers on the fretboard - that is the area dirctly under the guitar strings, how you position your fingers and how you move from one postion to the next will determine the sound that comes out when you pluck or strum with the other hand.

The Chord.

What ever way you wish to learn,from a friend,guitar course or from a book you will quickly come across things called chords. These chords are played by postioning your fingers in the correct postion as given in the music sheet.
