[D495]Do Not Speak English
by Charles Jean, Cha

Are you unknowingly restricting your market to more than half of your potential customer base? Are you alienating an important number of your visitors? If, your site is only in English and not translated in other key languages, you undoubtedly are! Did you know that as of 2005, around 300M users accessed the Internet in English, while almost 700M users accessed it in another language? If we were to make a crude assessment, strictly English localized website are loosing 70% of their potential customer base from the start. To be more specific, the top ten languages used in the Internet, are in order, English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Korean, Portuguese, Italian and Russian (internetworldstats). Even in the United-States, over 45M users access the Internet from home in another language than English, Spanish being the main language with over 26M users. The major companies recognize this situation and offer their website in different languages, some even going to the length of implementing specifically targeted version of their website, based on the target language. However, many websites or small business are neglecting this aspect, and hence loosing out on a chance of increasing their market simply by not repeating the same thing! Ironically, it's the smaller companies that should use the benefits of an easy and affordable method of increasing their customer base.

So, what do I do now? Well, first you must determine the potential market your website service or product should target. Indeed, the necessity to translate your website in certain languages may be constrained if your site usability is confined to specific regions. Another good thing to do is to determine the specific web pages that need to be translated. Opening your website to the world doesn't require the translation of your entire website. If your site has a page that promotes the Whistler Mountain in BC Canada to snowboarders, there is probably no need to translate it in certain languages, as some markets would not be concerned. Once you have established the languages worthwhile for your site to be translated into, you should then have a website like eWebSolving.com translate your content. This affordable service will increase the audience for your business and undoubtedly generate more conversions.

Allegedly, Rhonda Byrne who discovered and published The Secret was inspired by the so-called philosophy of Wallace Wattles and his book 'The Science of Getting Rich'. That book was published nearly a century ago in 1910 so even then, people were catering to our materialistic aspirations. The message of The Secret, is fairly simple. It's so simple that we can collapse it to one Universal truth. Namely, we are what we think.

The marketers of that idea, go one step further. They make claims that the Universe receives our negative thoughts as negative energy. By default, our positive thinking is received by the Universe as positive energy. It doesn't end there. The next platform of belief within the 'secret' is this: if you send negative energy out, via your negative thinking, you get it back. An irrefutable fact: no one has actually measured positive or negative thoughts and their related energies. Nor is it possible to do so. No one preaching -and selling - the idea of the law of attraction even begins to attempt to explain how they gathered any empirical evidence for the assertion that our thoughts, and their related energy, find their way back to the person who thought them.

Of course it's highly seductive to think that all one has to do to realise one's wildest dreams is to start, I believe the word is 'manifesting' those positive dreams/goals. Notice of course that the pushers of this opiate are never too specific. If you have a longstanding goal to own a red Ferrari, does your Ferrari turn up after months of positive thinking, or do you have to invest years of positive manifesting to win that Ferrari? What about the fact that you're unemployed and unlikely when you get a job, to ever earn enough to put a deposit on a Ferrari? That rather pragmatic question would be seen as a manifestation of negativity. However, the preachers of The Secret, such as Michael Beckwith , are not offering to build you a new garage to accommodate all the Ferraris you'll 'manifest'.

Instead of wasting our intellectual energies on such unsubstantiated claims, let's think about some facts. There are more than 6 billion people on earth. How do the 'law of attraction' preachers think that the Universe set priorities as to whose negative and positive thoughts she'll send back first? Note I didn't mention our aspirations to become more tolerant or compassionate. Those sorts of goals are not on the magnetic laws of attraction agenda. They're seriously interested in abundance, as in, lots of money. That's fine.

Another question: what language does the Universe speak? In order to be able to 'read' that is receive and send back people's thoughts, the Universe has to speak every single language on earth, amounting to thousands of languages and dialects. Picture that. The poor old Universe will be very busy deciphering the really important negative and positive thoughts of billions of people, in thousands of languages. It may not have any time left to do what Universes do.

Yes, it's better to look on the bright side of things in life. Optimism is a gift to be relished. For those of you with a pessimistic nature, it's worth working to acquire optimistic habits of mind. Some writers on the subject do admit that in addition to keeping up those positive aspirations, it's a great idea to get some action in there too.

Even when action is added as a fundamental of the law of attrACTION, the claim of any scientific base to such so-called 'law' is untenable. The Universe is nowhere near as interested in you or your thoughts as the people selling The Secret want you to think and believe. It takes a huge amount of egomania to think that our Universe is busy segregating our individual thoughts into different boxes - negative and positve. It takes an almost insane level of gullibility to believe that the Universe then sends those energies back to us as manifestations of our dreams and goals? It's disturbing to think that people like Oprah Winfrey gave a whole show over to Michael Beckwith to promote the nonsense that the Universe has an interested and engaged role in our quest for money - or anything else.

The Universe has much better things to do with its energy than to get involved in the pettiness and greed on which The Secret is based. Your success always was and always will be, up to you and the amount of effort you invest in deciding your life's true purpose, and how to achieve it. Then? Sorry, but then it's hard work all the way.
