[D482]Do Body Wraps Work
by Alex Fir, Ale

Herbal body wraps are fantastic for people who want to improve the body's tone and tighten the look and texture of the skin. This is particularly true for people with loose skin from weight loss or pregnancy. A body wrap is often considered an all-natural alternative to plastic surgery.

People who suffer from inflammation and joint pain will also profit from the therapeutic effects of body wraps.

A mixture of a clay and natural sea salt can be used to made a simple homemade body wrap. You can also add other ingredients like herbs and two tablespoons of an essential oil.

Essential oils and herbs usually used in body wraps include:

Essential oils: lavender, lemon, sage, lemongrass, sandlewood, grapefruit, rosemary, olive oil.

Herbs: Alfalfa leaf powder, chamomile flower powder, ground basil, rosehip powder, rose petal powder.

Here is a body wrap recipe that is popular among spas. You will need:

2 cups of water

2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 cup of bentonite or green clay

1/4 cup sea salt

Begin by boiling water and adding sea salt until it is fully dissolved. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir. You may add some more water in order to form a wet paste.

Massage the mixture over your entire body and wrap yourself with thin towels. You can also use a clean white sheet. You can try special wrapping sheets for the reason that the compaction helps to squeeze the tissues together for better results. Lay in the bathtub for a minimum of 45 minutes to 1 hour.

There are some things that you should know to make sure that the body wrap session is a pleasant one. Follow these tips to make certain that you have the best experience possible.

- Herbal body wraps are typically very messy so keep the experience in the bathtub.

- Before you apply the wrap, take a warm shower in order to open the skin pores.

- Drink plenty of water both before and after the wrap session to help flush out all of the toxins better.

- Cover yourself with a cheap foil thermal blanket to keep yourself warm.

- Avoid caffeine, alcohol, soda drinks, sugar and fried fatty foods for the next two days.

- It is very boring to lay in the tub and stare at the ceiling for 45 minutes. To make the experience more exciting, you can listen to your favorite music on a walkman or bring in a portable TV.

The use of body wraps has become more and more popular in recent years with people using them for everything from releasing toxins and toning their skin to weight loss. There are now even products that you can purchase and use on yourself at home, although to me that kind of takes way from the whole experience. Regardless, a body wrap will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

The body wrap treatment is actually two processes. The first of these is the absorption phase where a substance is placed in the wraps on your body that helps to open your pours and remove toxins. The toxins are absorbed by the ingredients such as herbs, clay, and seaweed. All of the items used have a special purpose in making you feel better.

The next step of the process is called the squeeze which is the compacting of your body tissues after the fluids are removed. After the removal of the toxic fluids, gaps are left in your cells and the squeezing method fills and closes them which helps you to appear leaner and more thin as well as making you feel healthier. Body wraps can even help with pain relief from injuries or stress. The detoxification itself can give you a euphoric feeling just from the feeling of being cleaner and leaner.

For a weight loss body wrap you should check into the herbal wraps which use a combination of minerals and herbs. In addition to removing the toxins from your skin they also help to remove fat and tighten your skin at the same time. It is common for people to lose many inches during these sessions.

Another use of body wraps that I find incredible is the use for pain removal from sprains, strains, arthritis and of course skin conditions. All of these maladies are often alleviated from the release of toxins which leaves you feeling rejuvenated and healthy as well as helping you to lose inches.

Although body wraps have become more popular in recent years they have been around since the early 1960's in the United States. Their popularity has grown substantially since they were featured on daytime talk shows in the seventies. The demonstration of the process on live television made the process the darling of the media and now it is sued all over the world in day spas. I really feel these are the crown jewel in a visit to a day spa, you can't go to a spa and not get a body wrap!
